1、 Tentative Interim Amendment NFPA13 Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems 2016 Edition Reference: 8.5.5.3.1.1(New) TIA 16-6 (SC 16-8-7 / TIA Log #1225) Pursuant to Section 5 of the NFPA Regulations Governing the Development of NFPA Standards, the National Fire Protection Association has
2、 issued the following Tentative Interim Amendment to NFPA 13, Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems, 2016 edition. The TIA was processed by the Technical Committee on Sprinkler System Installation Criteria and the Correlating Committee on Automatic Sprinkler Systems, and was issued by t
3、he Standards Council on August 4, 2016, with an effective date of August 24, 2016. A Tentative Interim Amendment is tentative because it has not been processed through the entire standards-making procedures. It is interim because it is effective only between editions of the standard. A TIA automatic
4、ally becomes a public input of the proponent for the next edition of the standard; as such, it then is subject to all of the procedures of the standards-making process. 1. Add a new paragraph 8.5.5.3.1.1 and renumber subsequent paragraphs to read as follows: 8.5.5.3.1* Sprinklers shall be installed
5、under fixed obstructions over 4 ft (1.2 m) in width. 8.5.5.3.1.1 Open grate flooring over 4 ft (1.2 m) in width shall require sprinkler protection below the grating. 8.5.5.3.1.2 Sprinklers shall be located below the obstruction and not more than 3 in. (75 mm) from the outside edge of the obstruction
6、. 8.5.5.3.1.3 Where sprinklers are located adjacent to the obstruction, they shall be of the intermediate level rack type. 8.5.5.3.1.4 The deflector of automatic sprinklers installed under fixed obstructions shall be positioned no more than 12 in. (300 mm) below the bottom of the obstruction. 8.5.5.
7、3.1.5 Sprinklers shall not be required under noncombustible obstructions over 4 ft (1.2 m) wide where the bottom of the obstruction is 24 in. (600 mm) or less above the floor or deck.
