WEBBING, TEXTILE, ARAMID, TUBULAR The Parachute Industry Association makes this document available for use by Industry and Government organizations that wish to apply this specification to their products. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification covers woven Aramid tubula

3、r webbing of aircraft quality. 1.2 Classification. The webbing shall be of three types, as specified in TABLE I. 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS 2.1 General. The documents listed in this section are specified in Sections 3 and 4 of this specification. This section does not include documents cited in other s

4、ections of this specification or recommended for additional information or as examples. Unless otherwise noted herein or in the contract, in the event of a conflict between the text of this document and the references cited herein, the text of this document takes precedence. Nothing in this document, however, supersedes applicable laws and regulations unless a specific

14、 exemption has been obtained. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 First Article. When fist article is specified (see 6.1), a sample representative of the production quality shall be submitted for first article inspection in accordance with 4.2. Copyright Protected: Do Not Copy! 15、ls. 3.2.1 Yarn. The yarn shall be a nonmelting, aromatic polyamide. The yarn shall not char at a temperature less than 675F, when tested as specified in 4.6. 3.2.2 Denier and Filament. The yarn shall be 200 15 denier and shall consist of 100 filaments. 3.2.3 Twist. The final ply of yarn shall be twi

16、sted so as to have a minimum of 2.5 tpi. 3.3 Construction and physical requirements. The finished webbing shall conform to TABLE I and 3.3.1 through 3.3.4. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.1) the color of the webbing shall be as specified in the procurement document. The color may be obtained by use of melt

19、 spun solution dyed yarn. 3.3.3 Visual shade matching. When evaluated in accordance with 4.9.3, the color of the finished webbing shall match the standard with sources simulating artificial daylight and shall be a good match to the standard under incandescent lamplight. 3.3.4 Length and put-up. Unle

Each spool shall have a label or tag marked with the following information and attached in such manner as to remain in place until all webbing has been removed from the spool. - WEBBING, TEXTILE, ARAMID, TUBULAR - Type, class and specification number - Wid

22、th - Gross yardage - Number of pieces - Name of contractor - Date of manufacture (month and year). 3.5 Fiber identification. Each spool of webbing shall be labeled, ticketed or invoiced for fiber content in accordance with the Textile Fiber Products Identification Act as per 16 CFR 303. 3.6 Workmans

23、hip. The finished webbing shall be clean, evenly woven and shall conform to the quality and grade of product established by this specification. The occurrence of defects shall not exceed the levels set by the applicable quality levels. 3.7 Date of manufacturer. When required by the procurement docum

24、ent, the textile manufacturer shall properly identify the age of the textile materials by placing a tag on the finished goods, or label on the containers, identifying the specification to which the material is manufactured, the lot number and the date of manufacture. The date of manufacture is defin

25、ed as the date (month and year) of the last manufacturing process that affects the physical characteristics of the material. 4. VERIFICATION 4.1 Classification of inspection. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: 1. First article inspection (see 4.2) 2. Conformance

26、inspection (see 4.3). 4.2 First article inspection. The first article, submitted in accordance with 3.1, shall be inspected as specified in 4.3 through 4.4 for compliance with design, construction, workmanship and dimensional requirements. 4.3 Conformance inspection. Conformance inspection shall inc

27、lude the examination of 4.6 and the tests in 4.7 through 4.9.2. Sampling for inspection shall be performed as specified in this document unless otherwise specified in the contract or order (see 6.1). 4.4 Responsibility for compliance. All items shall meet all requirements of Sections 3 through 5. Th

28、e inspection set forth in this specification shall become a part of the contractors overall inspection system or quality program. The absence of any inspection requirements in the specification shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility of ensuring that all products or supplies, submitte

29、d to the Government for acceptance, comply with all requirements of the Copyright Protected: Do Not Copy! PIA-W-38282C Page 5 of 10 contract. Sampling in quality conformance does not authorize submission of known defective material, either indicated or actual, nor does it commit the Government to ac

30、cept defective material. 4.5 Certificate of Compliance. Where Certificates of Compliance are submitted with TABLE V, they shall contain verifiable actual test and inspection data. The Government reserves the right to inspect such items to determine the validity of the certification. 4.6 Component te

31、sting. In addition to the quality assurance provisions of the subsidiary specifications, component materials listed in TABLE II shall be tested for the specified characteristics in accordance with the referenced test methods. The sample size and acceptance number shall be as shown in TABLE IV. The s

32、ample unit shall be 1 cone, 1 tube or 1 spool. The lot shall be unacceptable if one or more units fail to meet any requirement specified. TABLE II Testing of components. 34、ubmitted in lieu of test method. If a determination is made, the specimen shall be taken from the woven webbing. 4.6.1 Carbonization. 4.6.1.1 Apparatus. A suitable melting point apparatus meeting test method requirement shall be used to determine the carbonization point of the yarns. 4.6.1.2 Procedu

35、re. A sufficient number of fibers shall be removed from the yarn sample for observation of carbonization. The temperature at which the yarn begins to stiffen or char shall be considered the end point of the test. 4.7 End item inspection. 4.7.1 Yard-by-yard examination. The required yardage of each p

36、iece shall be inspected and visual defects classified as listed in TABLE III. The defects found shall be counted, regardless of their proximity to each other, except where two or more defects represent a single local condition of the webbing, in which case only the more serious defect shall be count

37、ed. A continuous defect shall be counted as one defect for each yard or fraction thereof in which it occurs. The lot size shall be expressed in yards. The sample unit shall be 1 linear yard. Acceptance sampling shall be determined by using Inspection Level II with an Acceptance Quality Limit (AQL) o

38、f 0.15 for major defects and 1.5 for total defects (major and minor Copyright Protected: Do Not Copy! PIA-W-38282C Page 6 of 10 combined). For critical defects, the lot shall be rejected when one or more critical defects are found in the sample size. The number of rolls from the sample yardage to be

39、 selected shall be in accordance with TABLE IV. The sample yardage shall be apportioned equally among the selected rolls. TABLE III Classification of defects.
