2、ers are used in conjunction with IPS sized ASTM D 2513 PE gas pipe to provide support for external gripping rings and sealing devices in mechanical fittings. Loose (non-captive) insert stiffeners are typically used with larger diameter mechanical fittings above 2” IPS. To help facilitate proper iden
3、tification and use of loose insert stiffeners for these fittings, the following color-coding recommendations were developed. SDR/DR COLOR 21 Green 17 Purple 15.5 Brown 13.5 White 11.5 Red 11 Black 10 Gray 9.3 Dark Blue 9 Yellow 7 Pink Note: Especially in 4” and larger PE piping, this color code may be applied to more than one diameter stiffener for a given SDR. Stiffeners with slight variations in OD for a given SDR/DR PE piping are used to assure a close fit with the polyethylene pipe throughout its expected operating temperature range, i.e.; cold weather or hot weather service.
