2、d be chosen based on what is being used at the projects location/center, rather than assuming that what is being at the home center will suffice. Description of Driving Event: During design efforts for a project at Vandenberg Air Force Base (VAFB) in Lompoc, CA, Best core locksets were designated fo

3、r use. The Best core locksets are currently in use across the Kennedy Space Center (the center in charge of the design effort at VAFB). During construction, the Best core locksets were installed. After construction was completed, the users at VAFB realized that the locksets were incompatible with th

4、e Schlage 6 pin core lockset in use at VAFB and requested the base change the lockset. This effort to replace the locksets has been slow, and there has been discussion about using outside vendors to expedite the replacement of the Best locksets. Lesson(s) Learned: Locksets for construction projects

5、should be chosen based on what is being used at the projects location/center, rather than assuming that what is being used at the home center will suffice. Schlage core locksets should be specified during the design phase for projects at VAFB as directed by the users, rather than the Best core locks

6、ets used at KSC. Recommendation(s): Lockset selection should be questioned and verified during the design phase for each project, and the lockset in use at the projects location/center should be chosen in order to avoid duplication of effort.
