2、ance connects and closeouts in the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) at the Kennedy Space Center. This trade study discussed the need for ground system upgrades in the processing flow. One of these upgrades required establishing a monitoring capability for a Flight Termination System (FTS) Safe and Ar
3、m (S&A) device when power is removed during vehicle rollout. This operational upgrade will require process modification to ground and flight subsystems. Description of Driving Event: A trade study to evaluate closeout for vehicle ordnance access while in the VAB was approved by the Operations Contro
4、l Panel/Program Review Board (OCP/PRB). Lesson(s) Learned: Safety concluded that S&A monitoring may be required continuously during vehicle rollout if ordnance is connected. Acquiring this capability would require that existing ground systems and flight avionics hardware be upgraded. Recommendation(
5、s): If ordnance is to be connected to a launch vehicle and power is to be disconnected from the vehicle in an off-pad integration facility, then design and installation work for new ground and flight system components will be necessary to set up monitoring of an FTS S&A device.
