1、Public Lessons Learned Entry: 5188 Lesson Info: Lesson Number: 5188 Submitting Organization: KSC Submitted by: Jenni Palmer Subject: Communications and Tracking Station Abstract: Not using a ground station for primary direct communications between the Tracking and Data Relay Satellite System (TDRSS)
2、 and the Constellation vehicle resulted in various communications problems. Using a ground station to transmit and receive the primary means of communication would have been more reliable. A ground/flight architecture capable of transmitting the forward link and receiving the return link communicati

Description of Driving Event: The Constellation program opted out of using a ground station for primary communication; instead, choosing to communicate directly with TDRSS for prelaunch, launch, and ascent. Communications with TDRSS from the launch pad p

Some of the problems experienced were data latency, voice sync difficulties between primary communications and dissimilar voice, and closing the link with TDRSS while transmitting and receiving forward/return link communications. Lesson(s) Learned: Direct communications to T
5、DRSS without a ground link was not reliable. Recommendation(s): For future spacecraft, a ground/flight architecture (selected through additional trade studies) capable of transmitting the forward link and receiving the return link communications to/from the spacecraft during prelaunch, launch, and a
