SCOPE 1.1 Form This specification covers an alkaline-type, water-base cleaner in the form of a liquid. 1.2 Application This cleaner has been

6、 used typically for removing stains and carbon deposits from corrosion and heat resistant steel and titanium alloy thrust reverser parts removed from the aircraft, but usage is not limited to such applications. This cleaner will etch aluminum. If an aluminum-safe cleaner is required, AMS1540 should

7、be used. 1.3 Safety - Hazardous Materials While the materials, methods, applications, and processes described or referenced in this specification may involve the use of hazardous materials, this specification does not address the hazards which may be involved in such use. It is the sole responsibili

8、ty of the user to ensure familiarity with the safe and proper use of any hazardous materials and to take necessary precautionary measures to ensure the health and safety of all personnel involved. 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS The issue of the following documents in effect on the date of the purchase orde

9、r forms a part of this specification to the extent specified herein. The supplier may work to a subsequent revision of a document unless a specific document issue is specified. MIL-STD-870 Cadmium Plating, Low Embrittlement, Electrodeposition 3. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Material The composition of the

15、cleaner shall be optional with the manufacturer but should contain water, biodegradable surfactants, and other additives as required to produce a homogeneous product meeting the requirements of 3.2. 3.2 Properties Cleaner shall conform to the following requirements; tests shall be performed in accor

16、dance with specified test methods on the product in concentrated form except as otherwise specified herein: 3.2.1 Corrosion of Metal Surfaces 3.2.1.1 Total Immersion Corrosion The product shall neither show evidence of corrosion nor cause a weight change of any test panel greater than shown in Table

18、e, shall not show a weight change greater than 0.3 mg/cm2per 24 hours, determined in accordance with ASTM F 1111. 3.2.2 Hydrogen Embrittlement The cleaner shall be non-embrittling, determined in accordance with ASTM F 519, utilizing Type 1a, 1c, or 2a specimens, cadmium plated in accordance with MIL

19、-STD-870, Class 1, Type I. Type 1a and 1c specimens shall be loaded to 45% of the predetermined notch fracture strength, and Type 2a specimens loaded to 80% of the yield strength. The entire 2a stressed specimen, or just the notched area of the 1a and 1c stressed specimen, shall be immersed continuo

20、usly in the solution under test for 150 hours at a temperature between 68 to 86 F (20 to 30 C). 3.2.3 Flash Point Shall not be lower than 140 F (60 C), determined in accordance with ASTM D 56. 3.2.4 Solubility Cleaner shall be completely soluble in water to make a uniform solution free of gelatinous

21、 lumps, layering of ingredients, and sediment. There shall be no violent or dangerous reactions when cleaner is diluted according to manufacturers recommendations. 3.2.5 Storage Stability Cleaner shall neither show separation from exposure to heat or cold nor show an increase in turbidity greater th

22、an a control sample, determined in accordance with ASTM F 1104. 3.2.6 Biodegradability Surfactants used shall be not less than 90% biodegradable, determined in accordance with ASTM D 2667. The vendor of the cleaner shall obtain certification from surfactant manufacturer of the percent biodegradabili

23、ty of the surfactant. 3.2.7 Performance Cleaner, when used in accordance with manufacturers recommendations, shall remove carbon deposits and stains normally found on corrosion and heat resistant steel and titanium alloy thrust reverser parts. Standards for acceptance and test methods shall be as ag

24、reed upon by purchaser and vendor. 3.3 Quality The cleaner, as received by purchaser, shall be a homogeneous liquid, free from sediment, abrasives, skins, lumps, and foreign materials detrimental to usage of the cleaner. 25、ponsibility for Inspection The vendor of cleaner shall supply all samples for vendors tests and shall be responsible for performing all required tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the cleaner conforms to the requireme

26、nts of this specification. 4.2 Classification of Tests 4.2.1 Acceptance Tests Tests for total immersion corrosion (3.2.1.1) and flash point (3.2.3) are acceptance tests and shall be performed on each lot. 4.2.2 Periodic Tests Tests for low-embrittling cadmium plate (3.2.1.2), hydrogen embrittlement

27、(3.2.2), solubility (3.2.4) and performance (3.2.7) are periodic tests and shall be performed at a frequency selected by the vendor unless frequency of testing is specified by purchaser. 4.2.3 Preproduction Tests Tests for all technical requirements are preproduction tests and shall be performed pri

28、or to or on the initial shipment of cleaner to a purchaser, when a change in ingredients and/or processing requires reapproval as in 4.4.2, and when purchaser deems confirmatory testing to be required. 4.2.3.1 For direct U.S. Military procurement, substantiating test data and, when requested, prepro

29、duction test material shall be submitted to the cognizant agency as directed by the procuring activity, contracting officer, or request for procurement. 4.3 Sampling and Testing Shall be in accordance with ASTM D 1568; a lot shall be all cleaner produced in a single production run from the same batc

30、hes of raw materials under the same fixed conditions and presented for vendors inspection at one time. A lot may be packaged in small quantities and delivered under the basic lot approval provided lot identification is maintained. 4.3.1 When a statistical sampling plan has been agreed upon by purcha

31、ser and vendor, sampling shall be in accordance with such plan in lieu of sampling as in 4.3 and the report of 4.5 shall state that such plan was used. 4.4 Approval 4.4.1 Sample cleaner shall be approved by purchaser before cleaner for production use is supplied, unless such approval be waived by pu

32、rchaser. Results of tests on production cleaner shall be essentially equivalent to those on the approved sample. 4.4.2 Vendor shall use ingredients, manufacturing procedures, and inspection methods on production cleaner which are essentially the same as those used on the approved sample cleaner. If

33、necessary to make any change in ingredients or in manufacturing procedures, vendor shall submit for reapproval a statement of the proposed changes in ingredients and/or processing and, when requested, sample cleaner. Production cleaner made by the revised procedure shall not be shipped prior to rece

34、ipt of reapproval. SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS1545B Page 4 of 6_ 4.5 Reports The vendor of cleaner shall furnish with each shipment a report showing the results of tests to determine conformance to the acceptance test requirements and, when performed, to the periodic test requirements and stating that cle

35、aner conforms to the other technical requirements. This report shall include the purchase order number, lot number, AMS1545B, manufacturers identification, and quantity. 4.5.1 A material safety data sheet conforming to AMS2825, or equivalent, shall be supplied to each purchaser prior to, or concurre

36、nt with, the report of preproduction tests results or, if preproduction testing be waived by purchaser, concurrent with the first shipment of cleaner for production use. Each request for modification of cleaner formulation shall be accompanied by a revised data sheet for the proposed formulation. 4.

37、5.2 The vendor of cleaner shall supply a certification of compliance of biodegradability requirements (See 3.2.6). 4.6 Resampling and Retesting If any sample used in the above tests fails to meet the specified requirements, disposition of the cleaner may be based on the results of testing three addi

38、tional samples for each original nonconforming sample. Failure of any retest sample to meet the specified requirements shall be cause for rejection of the cleaner represented. Results of all tests shall be reported. 5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Packaging and Identification 5.1.1 Cleaner shall be

39、packaged in containers of a type and size acceptable to purchaser. 5.1.2 Each container shall be legibly marked with not less than AMS1545B, purchase order number, manufacturers identification, lot number, and quantity. 5.1.3 Containers of cleaner shall be prepared for shipment in accordance with co

40、mmercial practice and in compliance with applicable rules and regulations pertaining to the handling, packaging, and transportation of the cleaner to ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery. 6. ACKNOWLEDGMENT A vendor shall mention this specification number and its revision letter in all quotati

41、ons and when acknowledging purchase orders. 7. REJECTIONS Cleaner not conforming to this specification, or to modifications authorized by purchaser, will be subject to rejection. 8. NOTES NOTICE This document references a part which contains cadmium as a plating material. Consult local officials if
