SCOPE 1.1 Form This specification covers an alkaline aqueous cleaner compound in the form of a liquid concentrate or a water-soluble powder for dilution with wa
6、ter. 1.2 Application This product has been used typically for removing oils, greases, or other soils from aircraft turbine engine parts by immersion in a solution of the compound at elevated temperature or spray cleaned in a parts washer, but usage is not limited to such applications. Restrictions f
7、or cleaning titanium parts may be imposed by the engine manufacturer. 1.3 Classification Compounds conforming to this specification are classified as follows: Type 1 - Liquid concentrate Type 2 - Water-soluble powder 1.3.1 Type 1 shall be supplied unless Type 2 is ordered. 1.4 Precautions Cleaner co
8、mpound may contain chemicals which, if improperly used, could be hazardous to the health and safety of operators. Protective clothing including eye shields, suitable gloves, and apron should be worn when preparing and using compound. Tanks shall be prepared and operated under conditions of adequate
9、fume extraction and with due regard to the safety recommendations of the manufacturer of the compound together with local workshop safety regulations. 1.5 Safety - Hazardous Materials While the materials, methods, applications, and processes described or referenced in this specification may involve
10、the use of hazardous materials, this specification does not address the hazards which may be involved in such use. It is the sole responsibility of the user to ensure familiarity with the safe and proper use of any hazardous materials and to take necessary precautionary measures to ensure the health
11、 and safety of all personnel involved. 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS The issue of the following documents in effect on the date of the purchase order forms a part of this specification to the extent specified herein. The supplier may work to a subsequent revision of a document unless a specific document i

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Composition The composition of the compound shal
15、l be optional with the manufacturer except that, when prepared for use, the solution shall be alkaline. When prepared in accordance with manufacturers instructions, the compound shall form a homogeneous solution, with no solid sediment at room temperature and shall meet the applicable requirements o
16、f 3.2. 3.2 PropertIes The compound shall conform to the following requirements; tests shall be performed in accordance with specified test methods on the product supplied at the maximum concentration and temperature recommended by the manufacturer. 3.2.1 Stock Loss Test panels of alloys or electrode
17、posits shall not incur stock loss exceeding 0.000025 inch (0.635 m) per surface and plasma deposited coatings shall not incur stock loss exceeding 0.0001 inch (2.5 m), when tested in accordance with ARP1755, Category 10. Stock loss figures shall be reported for all materials specified in ARP1755, Ca
18、tegory 10. Vendor shall indicate where compound is not recommended for particular alloys or coatings. 3.2.2 Surface Attack Test panels and bars used for the stock loss test of 3.2.1 shall neither exhibit pitting corrosion nor show visual evidence of degradation, when examined at 50X magnification un
19、der good oblique surface lighting conditions. SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS1740 Page 2 of 5_ 3.2.3 Hot Corrosion Cleaner shall neither produce visual corrosion nor localized microscopic corrosion where the depth of attack is greater than 0.0003 inch (0.0075 mm), determined in accordance with 3.2.3.1 on the

22、f each alloy using absorbent paper tissue and wiping with a suitable solvent and then with isopropanol. After drying at ambient temperature for 60 minutes 5, immerse one panel of each type in cleaning compound for 15 seconds, and air dry. Bake both panels of each type for 8 hours 0.1 at the indicate
23、d temperature 9 F (5 C). Cross-section, mount, and metallographically examine both the treated and control panels of each type at 250X magnification. Oxidation of the control can be deducted from test specimen corrosion. 3.2.4 Stress-Corrosion of Titanium Alloys The compound, when used at the requir
24、ed concentrations, shall not cause stress-corrosion cracking of titanium alloys, determined in accordance with ASTM F 945, Method A. 3.2.5 Biodegradability Vendor shall supply evidence that surfactants used in the compound are at least 90% biodegradable, determined either in accordance with ASTM D 2
25、667 where relevant to surfactant type or by alternative methods appropriate to surfactant type acceptable to purchaser. 3.2.5.1 Evidence of surfactant biodegradability does not guarantee that the compound may be discharged in either concentrated or diluted form into public waterways or sewerage syst
26、ems; manufacturers shall give advice on the means for disposal. 3.2.6 Storage Stability Compound, stored at 77 F 9 (25 C 5) for one year from date of receipt by purchaser, shall show no visual evidence of deterioration and shall meet all other technical requirements of this specification. 3.2.7 Perf
27、ormance The compound, prepared and used in accordance with manufacturers instructions, shall be capable of removing oils, greases, and other soils from all required parts. Compounds which meet all other technical requirements of this specification shall be service tested in an approved engine overha
28、ul facility for not less than six months, during which time at least ten turbofan or turbojet engines, or equivalent, shall be processed with satisfactory results before approval for service use is granted by the applicable engine manufacturer. 29、liquid compound, as received by purchaser, shall be homogeneous, and free from solid particles, separation, and any foreign material detrimental to usage of the compound. If compound is supplied in powder form, it shall be free flowing, free from lumping caused by moisture absorption, and free from
30、foreign materials detrimental to its usage. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for Inspection The vendor of the compound shall supply all samples for vendors tests and shall be responsible for the performance of all required tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perfor
31、m any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the compound conforms to specified requirements. 4.2 Classification of Tests 4.2.1 Preproduction Tests All technical requirements are preproduction tests and shall be performed prior to or on the initial shipment of cleaner to a purchaser, w
32、hen a change in ingredients and/or processing requires reapproval as in 4.4.2, and when purchaser deems confirmatory testing to be required. 4.3 Sampling and Testing Shall be in accordance with ASTM D 1568; a lot shall be all cleaner produced in a single production run, from the same batches of raw
33、materials, under the same fixed conditions, and presented for vendors inspection at one time. 4.3.1 A statistical sampling plan, acceptable to purchaser, may be used in lieu of sampling as in 4.3. 4.4 Approval 4.4.1 Sample cleaner shall be approved by purchaser before cleaner for production use is s
34、upplied, unless such approval be waived by purchaser. Results of tests on production cleaner shall be essentially equivalent to those on the approved sample. 4.4.2 Vendor shall use ingredients, manufacturing procedures, and inspection methods on production cleaner which are essentially the same as t
35、hose used on the approved sample. If necessary to make any change in ingredients or in manufacturing procedures, vendor shall submit for reapproval a statement of the proposed changes in ingredients and/or processing and, when requested, sample cleaner. Production cleaner made by the revised procedu
36、re shall not be shipped prior to receipt of reapproval. 4.5 Reports The vendor of cleaner shall furnish with each shipment a report showing the results of tests to determine conformance to the acceptance test requirements and, when performed, to the periodic test requirements and stating that cleane
37、r conforms to the other technical requirements. This report shall include the purchase order number, lot number, AMS 1740, manufacturers identification, and quantity. 4.5.1 The vendor of cleaner shall supply a certification of compliance of biodegradability requirements (See 3.2.5). 4.6 Resampling a
38、nd Retesting If any sample used in the above tests fails to meet the specified requirements, disposition of the cleaner may be based on the results of testing three additional samples for each original nonconforming sample. Failure of any retest sample to meet the specified requirements shall be cau

PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Identification Each container of compound shall be legibly marked with not less than AMS 1740, purchase order number, lot number, manufacturers
40、identification, and quantity. 5.2 Packaging Compound shall be packaged in containers of a type and size agreeable to purchaser. 5.2.1 The compound may be packaged in small quantities and delivered under the basic lot approval provided lot identification is maintained. 5.2.2 Containers of compound sh
41、all be prepared for shipment in accordance with commercial practice and in compliance with applicable rules and regulations pertaining to the handling, packaging, and transportation of the compound to ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery. 6. ACKNOWLEDGMENT A vendor shall mention this specific
42、ation number and its revision letter in all quotations and when acknowledging purchase orders. 7. REJECTIONS Compound not conforming to this specification, or to modifications authorized by purchaser, will be subject to rejection. 8.
