Specimens shall be primedwithin 72 hours following the final drying operation.4.5.2.1.2 Primer shall be applied by electrodeposition to a uniform, dry filmthickness of 0.0001 to 0.0004 inch (0.003 to 0.010 mm). Primer shallhave been under a
13、gitation for not less than 4 hours prior toapplication to specimens.4.5.2.1.3 The primed specimens shall be cured in a constant temperature oven at143C 3 (290F 5) for 40 minutes 5 before assembly.4.5.2.2 Curing of Bonded Specimens:4.5.2.2.1 Specimens shall be cured at a pressure of 40 ksi 5 (276 kPa
14、 34).4.5.2.2.2 Curing temperature shall be 107 - 121C (225 - 250F) for 90 minutes 3 with a rise from ambient to 107C (225F) in 50 to 85 minutes;i.e., a rise of 1 - 1.7C (1.75 - 3F) per minute.4.5.2.2.3 Specimens shall be cooled to 66C (151F) or lower under pressure.4.5.2.2.4 Completeness of Cure: Sh
15、all be tested by saturating a 4 x 4 inch(102 x 102 mm) piece of cheesecloth with methyl ethyl ketone (MEK),flooding the area to be tested with MEK, and rubbing the test area,using considerable pressure, 200 times counting the strokes in onedirection. Exposure of any metal constitutes a noncured film

Anyarea that has been previously wetted with MEK shall not be tested.Some pigment will always be found on the cheesecloth and shall notconstitute film failure.4.5.2.3 Wedge Crack Propagation Tests: Shall be performed as follows:4.5.2.3.1 Machine or saw-cut test panels into five 1-inch (25-mm) wide
17、 specimensas shown in Figure 1.4.5.2.3.2 Precrack the end that contains the separator film, if used, byinserting a wedge, flush with the specimen end and sides, as shown inFigure 1.SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS3109 Page 11 of 134.5.2.3.3 Measure and record length of crack produced.4.5.2.3.4 Expose the wedge
18、d-open specimen to 95 - 100% relative humidity for 60to 120 minutes in a chamber maintained at 60C 3 (140F 5). Thewater used to maintain the humidity shall not contain more than 200parts per million total solids.4.5.2.3.5 Within two hours after removal from humidity chamber, measure theincrease in l
19、ength of the crack that results from exposure to thehumidity.4.6 Reports: The vendor of primer shall furnish with each shipment a reportshowing the results of tests to determine conformance to the acceptance testrequirements and stating that the product conforms to the other technicalrequirements. T
20、his report shall include the purchase order number, lotnumber, AMS 3109, formula number, and quantity.4.6.1 A material safety data sheet conforming to AMS 2825, or equivalent, shallbe supplied to each purchaser prior to, or concurrent with, the report ofpreproduction test results or, if preproductio
21、n testing be waived bypurchaser, concurrent with the first shipment of primer for productionuse. Each request for modification of primer formulation shall beaccompanied by a revised data sheet for the proposed formulation.4.7 Resampling and Retesting: If any specimen used in the above tests fails to
22、meet the specified requirements, disposition of the primer may be based onthe results of testing three additional specimens for each nonconformingspecimen. Failure of any retest specimen to meet the specified requirementsshall be cause for rejection of the primer represented. Results of alltests sha
23、ll be reported.5.PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY:5.1 Packaging and Identification:5.1.1 The primer shall be packaged in sealed, air-tight containers.5.1.2 Each container shall be legibly identified with not less than thefollowing information applied to durable labels, using characters whichwill not be obli

26、ctice and in compliance with applicable rules andregulations pertaining to the handling, packaging, and transportation ofthe primer to ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery.5.1.6 For direct U.S. Military procurement, packaging shall be in accordancewith PPP-P-1892, Commercial Level, unless Lev
