7、Form:This specification covers “S“ glass in one style of woven fabric with anHTS-904 finish.1.2 Application:This cloth has been used typically as a reinforcing material for structuralplastic laminates, but usage is not limited to such applications. Cloth isalso suitable for use with phenolic and epo

8、xy resin matrices.1.3 Safety-Hazardous Materials:While the materials, methods, applications, and processes described orreferenced in this specification may involve the use of hazardous materials,this specification does not address the hazards which may be involved in suchuse. It is the sole responsi

13、ateriel, Procedures for Development and Application ofPackaging Requirements3.TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:3.1 General:3.1.1 Color: Cloth shall be essentially white to light straw in color.3.1.2 Finish: Immediately after filaments have been drawn from “S“ glass, theyshall be coated with HTS-904 finish to

14、yield a product meeting therequirements of 3.1.1. The HTS-904 finish shall aid in wetting the fabricwith resin and shall provide an intermediate chemical bond between thefabric and resin.3.1.3 Yarn: Cloth shall be woven from SCG 150-1/2 yarn.3.1.4 Weave: The weave shall be an eight-harness, satin we

15、ave in which each warpand fill yarn goes under one, and over seven, then under one, and repeat.The interweaving of the warp and fill yarns shall be staggered; i.e., theNo. 1 warp yarn shall go under the No. 1, No. 9, No. 17, and subsequentfill yarns, and the No. 2 warp yarn shall go under the No.2,

27、g orinsufficientMajor3.4 Tolerances:The width shall be within 1/2 inch ( 12.7 mm) from width ordered.4.QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS:4.1 Responsibility for Inspection:(R)The manufacturer of cloth shall supply all samples for required tests andshall be responsible for performing all required tests. Pu

29、 license from IHS-,-SAE AMS 3837DAMS 3837D4.2 Classification of Tests:Tests for all technical requirements are acceptance tests and preproductiontests and shall be performed prior to or on the initial shipment of cloth toa purchaser, on each lot, when a change in ingredients and/or processingrequire

30、s reapproval as in 4.4.2, and when purchaser deems confirmatorytesting to be required.4.2.1 For direct U.S. Military procurement, substantiating test data and, whenrequested, preproduction test material shall be submitted to the cognizantagency as directed by the procuring activity, contracting offi

31、cer, orrequest for procurement.4.3 Sampling and Testing:(R)Shall be as follows; a lot shall be all cloth produced in a single productionrun under the same fixed conditions and presented for manufacturersinspection at one time:4.3.1 Visual Examination of Rolls: 100% of each roll4.3.2 Fabric Tests: Sa

32、mples for test shall be taken at random from each lot inaccordance with Table 3. 35、from IHS-,-SAE AMS 3837D AMS 3837D4.4 Approval:4.4.1 Sample cloth shall be approved by purchaser before cloth for production useis supplied, unless such approval be waived by purchaser. Results of testson production cloth shall be essentially equivalent to those on the approvedsample.4.4.2 Manufactu

36、rer shall use ingredients, manufacturing procedures, processes,and methods of inspection on production cloth which are essentially thesame as those used on the approved sample cloth. If necessary to make anychange in ingredients, in type of equipment for processing, or inmanufacturing procedures, ma

37、nufacturer shall submit for reapproval astatement of the proposed changes in ingredients and/or processing and,when requested, sample cloth. Production cloth made by the revisedprocedure shall not be shipped prior to receipt of reapproval.4.5 Reports:The supplier of cloth shall furnish with each shi

38、pment a report showing theresults of tests to determine conformance to the technical requirements.This report shall include the purchase order number, lot number, AMS 3837D,manufacturers material designation, and quantity.4.6 Resampling and Retesting:(R)If any specimen used in the above tests fails

39、to meet the specifiedrequirements, disposition of the cloth may be based on the results of testingthree additional specimens for each original nonconforming specimen. Failureof any retest specimen to meet the specified requirements shall be cause forrejection of the cloth represented. Results of all

40、 tests shall be reported.5.PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY:5.1 Packaging and Identification:5.1.1 A lot of cloth may be packaged in small quantities and delivered under the(R) basic lot approval provided lot identification is maintained.5.1.2 Each roll of cloth shall be packed in a sealed, vapor-tight bag

41、ofpolyethylene not less than 0.004 inch (0.10 mm) thick to ensure that thecloth, during shipment and storage, will be protected against damage fromexposure to moisture, weather, or any other normal hazard.5.1.2.1 Once the bag is opened, if the roll is not totally consumed, the clothshall be rebagged

42、, desiccant added, and the bag resealed.5.1.3 Each roll of cloth shall have attached a tag showing not less than themanufacturers name or trademark and the phrase “CLOTH, Type “S“ Glass,(181 Type), Fabric Finish No. HTS-904“.- 6 -Copyright SAE International Provided by IHS under license with SAENot

45、the cloth toensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery.5.1.6 For direct U.S. Military procurement, packaging shall be in accordance with(R) MIL-STD-2073-1, Commercial Level, unless Level A is specified in therequest for procurement.6.ACKNOWLEDGMENT:Supplier shall mention this specification number a

46、nd its revision letter inall quotations and when acknowledging purchase orders.7.REJECTIONS:Cloth not conforming to this specification, or to modifications authorized bypurchaser, will be subject to rejection.8. NOTES:8.1 Revision Indicator:The (R) symbol is for the convenience of the user in locati
