10、ed herein shallconsist of this document and the latest issue of the basic specification,AMS 3894.3.2Material:The product shall be AMS 3892/9 high tensile strength carbon fibersimpregnated with epoxy resin formulated to meet the requirements specifiedherein.3.2.1 Epoxy Resin: Shall be a thermosetting
11、 formulation meeting the requirementsof AMS 3729 and capable of impregnating carbon fiber tape or sheet.3.2.1.1 Epoxy Resin DSC: Resin in the uncured prepreg shall exhibit an exothermpeak temperature of 202 to 222 C (396 to 432 F) at 5 C/minute,determined in accordance with ARP1610.3.2.2 Storage Lif
12、e: The product shall meet the requirements of thisspecification, when tested at any time up to six months from date ofreceipt by purchaser, provided it has been stored in the original unopenedcontainers at not higher than -18 C (0 F).3.2.3 Working Life: The product shall meet the requirements of thi

18、3894/17A3.4.1 Cure Cycle:FIGURE 23.4.1.1 While maintaining a vacuum of 20 to 29 inches (508 to 737 mm) mercury,pressurize autoclave to 85 psi 5 (586 kPa 34).3.4.1.2 Raise part temperature to 115 C 5 (239 F 9) in 20 to 120 minutes.Hold at 115 C 5 (239 F 9) for 60 to 70 minutes while maintaining avacu
19、um of 20 to 29 inches (508 to 737 mm) mercury and 85 psi 5(586 kPa 34) autoclave pressure.3.4.1.3 After completion of hold at 115 C 5 (239 F 9), increase autoclavepressure to 100 psi 5 (689 kPa 34). When 95 psi (655 kPa) pressureis reached, vent vacuum lines to atmosphere and increase temperature to
20、175 C 5 (347 F 9) in 15 to 80 minutes.3.4.1.4 Hold at 175 C 5 (347 F 9) for 110 to 130 minutes while maintaining100 psi 5 (689 kPa 34) autoclave pressure.3.4.1.5 Cool, under not less than 10 psi (69 kPa) autoclave pressure, to 93 C(199 F) not less than 30 minutes.3.4.2 Post Cure: To raise the resin
21、matrix glass transition temperature andobtain optimum laminate mechanical properties, post cure by heating for4 to 5 hours at bag pressure in an oven or by continuing the 175 C 5(347 F 9) autoclave cycle by holding for an additional 4 to 4.5 hours atnot less than 10 psi (69 kPa) pressure.
