6、 policy. 1. SCOPE: 1.1 Form: This specification covers an aluminum alloy in the form of hand forgings 8 inches (203 mm) and under in nominal thickness, and of forging stock. 1.2 Application: These forgings have been used typically for machined structural parts subject to warpage during machining and

7、 requiring high strength and resistance to stress-corrosion cracking, but usage is not limited to such applications. 2. 15、set, and precipitation heat treated to the T7452 temper (See AS1990). Heat treatment shall be performed in accordance with AMS 2772. 3.2.2 Forging Stock: As ordered by the forging manufacturer. 3.3 Properties: The product shall conform to the following requirements, determined in accordance with AMS

16、 2355. 3.3.1 Forgings: 3.3.1.1 Tensile Properties: Specimens machined from forgings having essentially a rectangular or square cross-section, heat treated in the indicated thickness, shall have the properties shown in Table 2 provided that the as-forged thickness does not exceed 8.0 inches (203 mm).

17、 The long-transverse direction for square forgings shall be identified by the vendor. 26、conforming to 3.3.1.3.1 may be given additional overaging and retested to determine conformance to 3.3.1.1, 3.3.1.2.1, and 3.3.1.2.2. 3.3.1.3 Exfoliation-Corrosion Resistance: Specimens cut from forgings shall show a level of exfoliation-corrosion at any plane less than that illustrated by Photograp

27、h EB, Figure 2, of ASTM G 34. 3.3.1.4 Stress-Corrosion Resistance: Specimens as in 4.3.1 cut from forgings shall show no evidence of stress-corrosion cracking when stressed in the short-transverse direction at 35.0 ksi (241 MPa) when tested in accordance with ASTM G 47. 3.3.1.5 Fracture Toughness: W

28、hen specified, forgings shall meet the values of KICshown in Table 3, determined in accordance with ASTM B 645. 31、r than the forging and heat treated as in 3.2.1, specimens taken from the heat treated coupon shall conform to the requirements of 3.3.1.1. If specimens taken from the stock after heat treatment as in 3.2.1 conform to the requirements of 3.3.1.1, the tests shall be accepted as equivalent to tests of

32、 a forged coupon. 3.4 Quality: The product, as received by purchaser, shall be uniform in quality and condition, sound, and free from foreign materials and from imperfections detrimental to usage of the product. 33、d to ultrasonic inspection in accordance with ASTM B 594 and shall meet the following requirements: 3.4.1.1 Forgings with nominal section thicknesses from 1.000 to 8.000 inches (25.40 to 203.20 mm), inclusive, and weights of each piece up to 600 pounds (272 kg) shall meet ultrasonic Class A. 3.5 Tol

34、erances: Forging stock shall conform to all applicable requirements of ANSI H35.2 or ANSI H35.2M. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS: 4.1 Responsibility for Inspection: The vendor of the product shall supply all samples for vendors tests and shall be responsible for the performance of all required test

35、s. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the product conforms to specified requirements. 4.2 Classification of Tests: 4.2.1 Acceptance Tests: The following requirements are acceptance tests and, except for composition, shall be

36、 performed on each inspection lot as applicable: 4.2.1.1 Composition (3.1). 4.2.1.2 Tensile properties (3.3.1.1), corrosion resistance (3.3.1.2), and, when specified, fracture toughness (3.3.1.5) and ultrasonic soundness (3.4.1) of each inspection lot of forgings. 4.2.1.3 Tolerances (3.5) of forging

37、 stock. 4.2.2 Periodic Tests: Exfoliation-corrosion resistance (3.3.1.3), and stress-corrosion resistance (3.3.1.4) and tests of forging stock to demonstrate ability to develop required properties (3.3.2) are periodic tests and shall be performed at a frequency selected by the vendor unless frequenc

38、y of testing is specified by purchaser. 4.3 Sampling and Testing: Shall be in accordance with AMS 2355 and the following; a lot shall be not more than 6000 pounds (2721 kg) of forgings of the same configuration or part number heat treated in the same batch-furnace load or charged into a continuous f

39、urnace consecutively during an eight-hour period. 4.3.1 Stress-Corrosion Resistance: Samples, taken from a forging or a forging prolongation, shall be not less than 0.750 inch (19.05 mm) in thickness. 40、g. 4.4 Reports: 4.4.1 The vendor of forgings shall furnish with each shipment a report stating that the composition conforms to specified requirements and showing the results of tests on each inspection lot to determine conformance to the other acceptance test requirements and, when performed, to th

41、e periodic test requirements. This report shall include the purchase order number, inspection lot number, AMS 4108F, size or part number, and quantity. This report shall also identify the forging vendor. 4.4.2 The vendor of forging stock shall furnish with each shipment a report stating that the com

42、position of the stock conforms to specified requirements. This report shall include the purchase order number, inspection lot number, AMS 4108F, size, and quantity. 4.5 Resampling and Retesting: If any specimen used in the above tests fails to meet specified requirements, disposition of the product

43、may be based on the results of testing two additional specimens for each original nonconforming specimen. Retest specimens from forgings shall be taken from as close as possible to the same location in the same forging or a second forging from the same lot as was the original unacceptable specimen.

44、Failure of any retest specimen to meet specified requirements shall be cause for rejection of the product represented. Results of all tests shall be reported. 5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY: 5.1 Identification: Shall be as follows: 5.1.1 Forgings: In accordance with AMS 2808. 5.1.2 Forging Stock: As ag

45、reed upon by purchaser and vendor. 5.2 Packaging: The product shall be prepared for shipment in accordance with ASTM B 660 and in compliance with applicable rules and regulations pertaining to the handling, packaging,and transportation of the product to ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery. 6
