24、000 to 5.500 inches (50.8 to 139.70 mm), inclusive in nominal thickness, plane strain fracture toughness shall be tested in accordance with ASTM E399 and ASTM B645. The required orientation(s) shall be specified by the purchaser. For the L-T and T-L test orientations, the test specimens shall meet t
25、he following requirements: For plate 2.000 to 4.000 inches (50.80 to 101.60 mm), inclusive, in nominal thickness, use 2-inch (51-mm) thick specimens centered at T/2. For plate over 4.000 inches (101.60 mm) and up through 5.500 inches (139.70 mm) use 2-inch (51-mm) thick specimen centered at T/4. For
26、 the S-L test orientation, use an 0.75-inch (19-mm) thick specimen or larger centered at T/2. It is recommended that the S-L specimen be the largest standard specimen size permitted by the plate gauge.A valid KIC meeting the requirements of ASTM E399 or a KQ “usable for lot release” in accordance wi

30、ng-transverse yield strength for plate 3 inches (76 mm) and under in nominal thickness and to 35.0 ksi (241 MPa) for plate over 3 inches (76 mm) in nominal thickness.3.4 QualityPlate, as received by purchaser, shall be uniform in quality and condition, sound, and free from foreign materials and from

QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS4.1 Responsibility for Inspec
34、tionThe vendor of plate shall supply all samples for vendors tests and shall be responsible for the performance of all required tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the plate conforms to the specified requirements.4.2 C
35、lassification of Tests4.2.1 Acceptance TestsComposition (3.1), tensile properties (3.3.1), conductivity (3.3.2), fracture toughness (3.3.3), ultrasonic soundness (3.4.1) when specified, and tolerances (3.5) are acceptance tests and, except for composition, shall be performed on each inspection lot.4
36、.2.2 Periodic TestsExfoliation corrosion resistance (3.3.4) and stress-corrosion cracking resistance (3.3.5) are periodic tests and shall be performed at a frequency selected by the vendor unless frequency of testing is specified by purchaser.4.3 Sampling and TestingShall be in accordance with AMS23
37、55 and the following:4.3.1 Specimens for conductivity testing shall be taken from the samples used for tensile testing.4.3.2 Specimens for fracture toughness testing shall be taken from the center width of at least one plate in each inspection lot for each test direction specified.4.4 ReportsThe ven
38、dor of the plate shall furnish with each shipment a report stating the plate conforms to the chemical composition, showing the numerical results of tests on each inspection lot to determine conformance to the other acceptance test requirements, results of periodic tests when performed, and stating t
39、hat the plate conforms to the other technical requirements. This report shall include the purchase order number, inspection lot number, AMS4205D, size, and quantity. 40、ement to that effect.4.5 Resampling and RetestingShall be in accordance with AMS2355.5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY5.1 IdentificationShall be in accordance with ASTM B666/B666M.5.2 PackagingPlate shall be prepared for shipment in accordance with ASTM B660 and in compliance with applicable rules and reg
41、ulations pertaining to the handling, packaging, and transportation of the plate to ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery.6.
