5、erseding AMS4298 Aluminum Alloy, Alclad Sheet 3.8Cu 1.0Mg 0.30Mn 0.60Zn (Alclad 2056-T3) Solution Heat Treated and Cold Worked RATIONALE AMS4298A revises Composition (Tables 1, 2), Condition (3.2), Properties (3.3.5) and Reports (4.4.1) and is a Five Year Review and update of this specification. 1.

6、SCOPE 1.1 Form This specification covers an aluminum alloy in the form of sheet 0.063 to 0.236 inch (1.60 to 6.00 mm), incl, in thickness, clad on both sides (see 8.4). 1.2 Application These products have been used typically for formed structural aircraft parts requiring improved resistance to fatig

7、ue crack growth and high toughness with strength similar to Alclad 2024-T3, but usage is not limited to such applications. 1.2.1 Certain design and processing procedures may cause these products to become susceptible to stress-corrosion cracking; ARP823 recommends practices to minimize such conditio

8、ns. 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS The issue of the following documents in effect on the date of the purchase order forms a part of this specification to the extent specified herein. The supplier may work to a subsequent revision of a document unless a specific document issue is specified. When the referen

23、er and producer. 3.4 Quality Product, as received by purchaser, shall be uniform in quality and condition, sound, and free from foreign materials and from imperfections detrimental to usage of the product. 3.5 Tolerances Shall conform to all applicable requirements of ANSI H35.2 or ANSI H35.2M. 4. Q

Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the p

25、roduct conforms to specified requirements. 4.2 Classification of Tests 4.2.1 Acceptance Tests Composition (3.1), tensile properties (3.3.1), fatigue-crack growth rate (3.3.2), and tolerances (3.5) are acceptance tests and, except for composition, shall be performed on each inspection lot. 4.2.2 Peri

26、odic Tests Bending (3.3.3) and cladding thickness (3.3.4) are periodic tests and shall be performed at a frequency selected by the producer unless frequency of testing is specified by purchaser. 27、chemical composition analysis shall be determined for each ingot casting drop and one fatigue crack growth test shall be performed on each inspection lot. 4.4 Reports The producer of the product shall furnish with each shipment a report stating that the product conforms to the composition and tolera

28、nces and showing the numerical results of tests for tensile properties and fatigue crack growth of each inspection lot and stating that the product conforms to the other technical requirements. This report shall include the identity of the producer, purchase order number, inspection lot number, AMS4

29、298A, size and quantity of the mill product. 4.4.1 When the product size is outside the range covered by 1.1, the report shall contain a statement to that effect. 4.5 Resampling and Retesting Shall be in accordance with AMS2355. 5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Identification Shall be in accordance w

30、ith ASTM B666/B666M. 5.2 Packaging 5.2.1 Product shall be protected from damage during storage and shipment by a method determined by producer unless specified by purchaser. Examples of typical protective methods include but are not limited to interleaving with paper or oiling of the surface. 5.2.2

31、Product shall be prepared for shipment in accordance with ASTM B660 and in compliance with applicable rules and regulations pertaining to the handling, packaging, and transportation of the product to ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery. 6. ACKNOWLEDGMENT A producer shall mention this specifi

32、cation number in all quotations and when acknowledging purchase orders. 7. REJECTIONS Product not conforming to this specification, or to modifications authorized by purchaser, will be subject to rejection. 8.
