5、d 2009-06 Revised 2015-12 Superseding AMS4763A Silver Alloy, Brazing Filler Metal 56Ag 22Cu 17Zn 5.0Sn 1145 to 1205 F (618 to 652 C) Solidus-Liquidus Range (Composition similar to UNS P07563) RATIONALE AMS4763B incorporates the industry standard requirements of AWS A5.8 and is a Five Year Review and

6、 update of this specification. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Form This specification covers a silver alloy in the form of wire, rod, sheet, strip, foil, pig, powder, shot, and chips, and a viscous mixture (paste) of powder in a suitable binder. 1.2 Application This material has been used typically for joining ferrou

7、s metals and alloys, requiring good joint strength up to 600 F (316 C) for short-time service or up to 400 F (204 C) for long-time service, and for joining nonferrous metals except those having a base of titanium, aluminum or magnesium, but usage is not limited to such applications. 1.2.1 The low br

8、azing temperature and the tin content help to inhibit stress corrosion cracking during brazing of nickel base alloys. 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS The issue of the following documents in effect on the date of the purchase order forms a part of this specification to the extent specified herein. The suppli

9、er may work to a subsequent revision of a document unless a specific document issue is specified. 12、g. AWS A5.8M/A5.8 Specification for Filler Metals for Brazing and Braze Welding 3. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS Products shall meet the requirements of AWS A5.8 BAg-7 and the following: 3.1 Condition As fabricated unless otherwise specified. 3.1.1 Paste Paste not containing flux (3.1.1.1) shall be supplie

13、d unless paste containing flux (3.1.1.2) is specified. 3.1.1.1 Paste Not Containing Flux Shall consist of 84 to 90% by weight powder in a suitable binder, unless otherwise specified by purchaser. 3.1.1.2 Paste Containing Flux Shall consist of 55 to 80% by weight powder in a suitable binder and flux

14、combination, unless otherwise specified by purchaser. 3.2 Properties 3.2.1 Paste 3.2.1.1 Paste shall have a shelf life of not less than six months from date of manufacture; not more than thorough mixing shall be required to restore paste for use during that time. 3.2.1.2 Paste without flux shall lea

15、ve no adherent residue when heated in a protective atmosphere to 1000 F (538 C) or higher. 3.3 Quality The product, as received by purchaser, shall be uniform in color, quality, condition, and free from foreign materials and imperfections detrimental to usage of the filler metal. Wire, rod, sheet, s

16、trip, and foil shall be clean, sound, bright, and free from slivers, splitting, ragged edges, damaged ends, and other injurious imperfections. Pig, powder, shot, and chips shall have a metallic luster. 3.4 Sizes and Tolerances The product shall be supplied in the following standard sizes and toleran

23、% minimum 3.4.3.2.1 When mesh designation is not specified, 140F mesh shall be supplied. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for Inspection The producer of the product shall supply all samples for producers tests and shall be responsible for the performance of all required tests. Purc

24、haser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the product conforms to the specified requirements. 4.2 Classification of Tests 4.2.1 Acceptance Tests All technical requirements, other than shelf life of paste (3.2.1.1), are acceptance tests

25、 and shall be performed on each lot. 4.2.2 Periodic Tests Shelf life of paste (3.2.1.1) is a periodic tests and shall be performed at a frequency selected by the producer unless frequency of testing is specified by purchaser. 4.3 Sampling and Testing Shall be in accordance with the following: SAE IN

26、TERNATIONAL AMS4763B Page 5 of 6 4.3.1 Composition For all products except powder, one sample from each lot; for powder, one sample from each furnace charge. 4.3.2 Other Technical Requirements As agreed upon by purchaser and producer. 4.3.3 A lot shall be all product, other than powder and paste, pr

27、oduced from a single furnace charge (or melt) which has been tested and found to conform to the composition requirements of AWS A5.8. 4.3.4 A lot of powder shall be a uniform blend of powder produced from one or more furnace charges, each meeting the requirements of this specification, and presented

28、 for producers inspection at one time. 4.3.5 A lot of paste shall be that paste produced from a single lot of powder combined with binder from the same manufacturing batch and presented for producers inspection at one time. 4.4 Reports The producer of the product shall furnish with each shipment a r

29、eport showing the results of tests to determine conformance to the composition requirements and stating that the product conforms to all other technical requirements. This report shall include the purchase order number, lot number or numbers, AMS4763B, form, size, and quantity. 4.5 Resampling and Re

30、testing Not applicable. 5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Identification 5.1.1 The product shall be identified as agreed upon by purchaser and producer. 5.1.2 Each exterior container or package shall be permanently and legibly marked with not less than the following information: SILVER ALLOY BRAZING F

31、ILLER METAL AMS4763B LOT NUMBER _ MANUFACTURERS IDENTIFICATION _ NOMINAL DIMENSIONS _ WEIGHT _ 5.1.2.1 Each container and package of paste shall also be marked with the date of manufacture. 5.2 Packaging 5.2.1 The product shall be suitably wrapped, sealed, and boxed or otherwise packaged for protect

32、ion against injury and contamination during shipment and under normal dry storage conditions. 5.2.2 Packages of filler metal shall be prepared for shipment in accordance with commercial practice and in compliance with applicable rules and regulations pertaining to the handling, packaging, and transp

33、ortation of the filler metal to ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery. 6. ACKNOWLEDGMENT A producer shall mention this specification number and its revision letter in all quotations and when acknowledging purchase orders. SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS4763B Page 6 of 6 7. REJECTIONS Filler metal not co

34、nforming to this specification, or to modifications authorized by purchaser, will be subject to rejection. 8. 36、l has an approximate solidus temperature of 1145 F (618 C) and an approximate liquidus temperature of 1205 F (652 C). 8.3 Terms used in AMS are clarified in ARP1917. 8.4 Dimensions and properties in inch/pound units and the Fahrenheit temperatures are primary; dimensions and properties in SI units a

37、nd the Celsius temperatures are shown as the approximate equivalents of the primary units and are presented only for information. 8.5 Procurement documents should specify not less than the following: AMS4763B Form and size of filler metal desired Quantity of filler metal desired Size of containers desired.
