17、1724 3.5 Quality 3.5.1 Wire Wire, before forming into springs, shall have a bright, smooth, cold-drawn finish and shall be free from imperfections such as seams, pits, nicks, scratches, and other imperfections detrimental to usage of the wire. A dull surface resulting from the use of a phosphate coa
18、ting during drawing is acceptable. 3.5.2 Springs The surfaces of finished springs, as received by purchaser, shall be uniform and free from pits, nicks, scratches, and marks due to grinding, drawing, or coiling, and from other imperfections detrimental to performance of the springs. 3.6 Tolerances W

QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for Inspection The vendor of the wire shall supply all samples for vendors tests and s
22、hall be responsible for the performance of all required tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the wire conforms to specified requirements. 4.2 Classification of Tests All technical requirements are acceptance tests and s
23、hall be performed on each heat or lot as applicable. 4.3 Sampling and Testing Shall be in accordance with AMS 2370. 4.4 Reports The vendor of wire and springs shall furnish with each shipment a report showing the results of tests for composition of each heat and for tensile properties of each lot, a
24、nd stating that the product conforms to the other technical requirements. This report shall include the purchase order number, heat and lot numbers, AMS 5110J, size, and quantity. 4.5 Resampling and Retesting Shall be in accordance with AMS 2370. 5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Identification 5.1.1
25、Wire Coiled wire shall be securely bundled and identified by a durable tag marked with not less than the purchase order number, AMS 5110J, heat and lot numbers, nominal size, and manufacturers identification, and attached to each coil, or shall be boxed and the box marked with the same information.
26、5.1.2 Finished Springs Springs of different part numbers shall be shipped in separate containers, each marked with the part number and the lot number. 5.2 Packaging 5.2.1 Finished springs shall be protected, during shipment and storage, by coating with a suitable corrosion-preventive compound that i
27、s readily removable by washing in a suitable cleaner such as a hydrocarbon solvent or hot alkaline solution. 28、be accomplished to ensure that the wire and finished springs, during shipment and storage, will be protected against mechanical damage and exposure to moisture. 5.2.3 Wire and containers of springs shall be prepared for shipment in accordance with commercial practice and in compliance with applicabl
29、e rules and regulations pertaining to the handling, packaging, and transportation of the wire and finished springs to ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery. 6. ACKNOWLEDGMENT A vendor shall mention this specification number and its revision letter in all quotations and when acknowledging purch

REJECTIONS Wire and springs not conforming to this specification, or to modifications authorized by purchaser, will be subject to rejection. 7.1 Springs or wire received by purchaser in a corroded condition will be subject to rejection. 8.
