SCOPE 1.1 Form This specification covers a corrosion-resistant steel in the form of sheet, strip, and plate 4.0 inches (102 mm) and under in nominal thickness (see 8.6). 1.2 Applicati
7、on These products have been used typically for parts requiring corrosion resistance and high strength up to 600 F (316 C) and where such parts may require welding during fabrication, but usage is not limited to such applications. 1.2.1 Certain processing procedures and service conditions may cause t

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Composition Shall conform to the percentages by weight shown in Table 1, determined by wet chemical methods in accordance with ASTM E353, by spectrochemical methods, or by other analytical methods acceptable to purchaser. 18、lied in the following condition: 3.2.1 Sheet and Strip Cold rolled, solution heat treated, and, unless solution heat treatment is performed in an atmosphere yielding a bright finish, descaled having a surface appearance comparable to the commercial corrosion-resistant finishes described in ASTM A480
19、/A480M and AS4194 and 3.2.1.1 or 3.2.1.2, as applicable. 3.2.1.1 Sheet No. 2D finish. 3.2.1.2 Strip No. 1 strip finish. 3.2.2 Plate Hot rolled, solution heat treated, and descaled. 3.3 Solution Heat Treatment Except as specified in 3.3.1, the product shall be solution heat treated by heating to 1900
20、 F 25 F (1038 C 14 C), holding at heat for a time commensurate with the thickness and the heating equipment and procedure used, and cooling to below 90 F (32 C). 21、eters (e.g., furnace temperature set points, heat input, travel rate, etc.) for continuous heat-treating lines shall be established by the material producer and validated by testing of product to requirements of 3.4. Plate shall not be subjected to continuous heat treating. 3.4 Properties The produc
22、t shall conform to the following requirements; tensile, hardness, and bend testing shall be performed in accordance with ASTM A370: 3.4.1 As Solution Heat Treated 3.4.1.1 Tensile Properties Shall be as shown in Table 2 for nominal thickness 0.015 to 0.1874 inch (0.38 to 4.760 mm), inclusive. 24、shall contain not more than 5% ferrite, determined in accordance with AMS2315. 3.4.1.4 Bending Product 0.109 inch (2.77 mm) and under in nominal thickness shall be tested in accordance with ASTM E290 using a sample prepared nominally 0.75 inch (19.0 mm) in width with its axis of bending parallel to
25、the direction of rolling and shall withstand, without cracking, bending through an angle of 180 degrees around a diameter equal to 18 times the nominal thickness of the product. In case of dispute, the results of tests using the guided bend test of ASTM E290 shall govern. 3.4.2 After Precipitation H
26、eat Treatment The solution heat treated product 4.0 inches (102 mm) and under in nominal thickness shall have tensile properties specified in 3.4.2.1 and hardness specified in 3.4.2.2 after being precipitation heat treated to a particular condition in accordance with the corresponding temperature an
27、d times shown in Table 3 and cooled as required. Tensile and hardness tests shall be made in only the H900 condition unless purchaser specifies another heat-treated condition. 37、nd producer. 3.6 Quality The product, as received by purchaser, shall be uniform in quality and condition, sound, and free from foreign materials and from imperfections detrimental to usage of the product. 3.7 Tolerances Shall conform to all applicable requirements of AMS2242; flatness tolerance for
38、 sheet shall be as specified for cold-worked austenitic sheet in half-hard temper. After production and certification to the specified requirements, plate within the size ran
39、ge of 1.1 may be cut in a plane perpendicular to the short transverse dimension by the distributor to supply plate of a thinner gage. The requirement for compliance with AS6279 becomes effective 04/01/2019. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for Inspection The producer of the product
40、 shall supply all samples for producers tests and shall be responsible for the performance of all required tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the product conforms to specified requirements. 4.2 Classification of Tests
41、 4.2.1 Acceptance Tests Composition (3.1), tensile properties (3.4.1.1), hardness (3.4.1.2), bending (3.4.1.4) as solution heat treated, and tensile properties (3.4.2.1) and hardness (3.4.2.2) after precipitation heat treatment to the hardened condition (H900, or as specified by purchaser), and tole
42、rances (3.6) are acceptance tests and shall be performed on each heat or lot as applicable. 4.2.2 Periodic Tests Microstructure (3.4.1.3) and properties in other than the specified precipitation hardened condition (see 3.4.2) are periodic tests and shall be performed as a frequency selected by the p
43、roducer unless frequency of testing is specified by the purchaser. 4.3 Sampling and Testing Shall be in accordance with AMS2371. 4.4 Reports The producer of the product shall furnish with each shipment a report showing the producers name and country where the metal was melted (e.g., final melt in th
44、e case of metal processed by multiple melting operations) and the results of tests for chemical composition of each heat and for tensile properties, hardness and bending as solution heat treated, and tensile properties and hardness after precipitation heat treatment of each lot, and stating that the
45、 product conforms to the other technical requirements. This report shall include the purchase order number, heat and lot numbers, AMS5604J, product form, size, and quantity. 4.4.1 When the product size is outside the range covered by 1.1, the report shall contain a statement to that effect. 4.4.2 Wh
46、en material produced to this specification is beyond the sizes allowed in the scope or tables, or other exceptions are taken to the technical requirements listed in Section 3 (see 5.2.1.1), the report shall contain a statement “This material is certified as AMS5604J(EXC) because of the following exc
47、eptions.” and the specific exceptions shall be listed. 4.5 Resampling and Retesting Shall be in accordance with AMS2371. 5. 48、he material shall be marked with AMS5604J(EXC). 5.2 Packaging The product shall be prepared for shipment in accordance with commercial practice and in compliance with applicable rules and regulations pertaining to the handling, packaging, and transportation of the product to ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery. 6. ACKNOWLEDGMENT A producer shall mention this specification number and its revision letter in all quotations and when acknowledging purchase orders. 7.
