16、 Condition The product shall be supplied in the following condition: 3.2.1 Bars, Wire, Forgings, and Flash Welded Rings Solution heat treated. 3.2.1.1 Bars and wire may be hot or cold finished. 3.2.1.2 Flash welded rings shall not be supplied unless specified or permitted on purchasers part drawing.
17、 When supplied, rings shall be manufactured in accordance with AMS7490. 18、d by the forging or flash welded ring manufacturer. 3.3 Heat Treatment No specific heat treating instructions are specified but bars, wire, forgings, and flash welded rings shall be solution heat treated to produce the properties specified in 3.4.1 and 3.4.2. Recommended solution heat treatment is p
19、resented in 3.3.1.3.3.1 Heat to a temperature not lower than 1900 F (1038 C), hold at heat for a time commensurate with section thickness and with heating equipment and procedures used, and cool at a rate equivalent to a rapid air cool or faster. 3.4 Properties 3.4.1 Bars, Wire, Forgings and Flash W
20、elded Rings Bars, wire, forgings, and flash welded rings, 8.0 inches (203 mm) and under in nominal diameter or least distance between parallel sides, shall conform to the following requirements. 3.4.2 Stock for Forging, Extruding or Flash Welded Rings Shall have properties as agreed upon by purchase
21、r and vendor. 3.4.3 Tensile Properties Shall be as shown in Table 2, determined in accordance with ASTM E 8/E 8M. 23、ith similar nonconforming hardness.3.5 Quality The product, as received by purchaser, shall be uniform in quality and condition, sound, and free from foreign materials and from imperfections detrimental to usage of the product. 3.5.1 Grain flow of die forgings, except in areas which contain flash-li
24、ne end grain, shall follow the general contour of the forgings showing no evidence of reentrant grain flow. 3.6 Tolerances Bars and wire shall conform to all applicable requirements of AMS2241. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for Inspection The vendor of the product shall supply all samples for vendors tests and shall be responsible for the performance of all required tests. Purchaser reserves the right t
26、o sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the product conforms to specified requirements. 4.2 Classification of Tests 4.2.1 Acceptance Tests Composition (3.1), tensile properties (3.4.1), hardness (3.4.2), quality (3.5) and tolerances (3.6) are acceptance tests
27、 and shall be performed on each heat or lot as applicable. 4.2.2 Periodic Tests Grain flow of die forgings (3.5.1) is a periodic test and shall be performed at a frequency selected by the vendor unless frequency of testing is specified by purchaser. 4.3 Sampling and Testing 4.3.1 Bars, Wire, Flash W
28、elded Rings, and Stock for Forging or Flash Welded Rings In accordance with AMS2371. 4.3.2 Forgings In accordance with AMS2374. 4.4 Reports The vendor of the product shall furnish with each shipment a report showing the results of tests, as applicable, for chemical composition of each heat and for t
29、ensile properties and hardness of each lot, and stating that the product conforms to the other technical requirements. This report shall include the purchase order number, heat and lot numbers, AMS5716J, specific heat treating cycles used to obtain reported properties, product form, size, and quanti
30、ty. If forgings are supplied, the size and melt source of stock used to make the forgings shall also be included. 4.5 Resampling and Retesting 4.5.1 Bars, Wire, Flash Welded Rings, and Stock for Forging or Flash Welded Rings In accordance with AMS2371. 4.5.2 Forgings In accordance with AMS2374. 5. 31、REPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Sizes Except when exact lengths or multiples of exact lengths are ordered, straight bars and wire will be acceptable in mill lengths of 6 to 20 feet (1.8 to 6.1 m) but not more than 10% of any shipment shall be supplied in lengths shorter than 10 feet (3 m).
