6、r to UNS S66286) RATIONALE AMS5726E has been reaffirmed to comply with the SAE five-year review policy. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Form This specification covers a corrosion and heat-resistant steel in the form of work-strengthened bars and wire 1-1/4 inches (31.8 mm) and under in nominal diameter or least distan

7、ce between parallel sides. 1.2 Application These products have been used typically for parts, such as fasteners, requiring room-temperature minimum tensile strength of 200 ksi (1379 MPa) after precipitation heat treatment for use up to 1000 F (538 C) and having oxidation resistance up to 1200 F (649

8、 C), but usage is not limited to such applications. 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS The issue of the following documents in effect on the date of the purchase order forms a part of this specification to the extent specified herein. The supplier may work to a subsequent revision of a document unless a specif

9、ic document issue is specified. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Composition Shall conform to the percentages by weight shown in Table 1, determined by wet chemical methods in accordance with ASTM E 353, by spectrochemical methods, or

14、by other analytical methods acceptable to purchaser. 15、0.50 1.00 0.35 3.1.1 Check Analysis Composition variations shall meet the applicable requirements of AMS2248. 3.2 Melting Practice Steel shall be produced by multiple melting using consumable electrode practice in the remelt cycle. 16、treated and suitably work-strengthened. 3.3.1 Bars shall be cold finished; round bars shall be ground or turned. 3.3.2 Coiled bars and wire shall be cold-drawn. 3.4 Heat Treatment Bars and wire, except as specified in 3.4.1, shall be solution heat treated by heating to 1800 F 25 (982 C 14), holding

17、at heat for a time commensurate with section thickness, and quenching in oil or water and work-strengthened as required to meet the requirements of 3.5. Pyrometry shall be in accordance with AMS2750. 3.4.1 Continuous Heat Treating of Wire: Process parameters (e.g., furnace temperature set points, he

18、at input, travel rate, etc.) for continuous heat treating lines shall be established by the material producer and validated by testing of product to the other requirements of this specification. 3.5 Properties The product shall conform to the following requirements; hardness and tensile testing shal

19、l be performed in accordance with ASTM A 370: 3.5.1 As Solution Heat Treated and Work-Strengthened 3.5.1.1 Tensile Strength Shall be not lower than 125 ksi (862 MPa). 3.5.1.2 Average Grain Size Shall be ASTM No. 5 or finer, determined in accordance with ASTM E 112. 3.5.2 After Precipitation Heat Tre

20、atment Product, 1-1/4 inches (31.8 mm) and under in nominal diameter or least distance between parallel sides, shall have the following properties after being precipitation heat treated by heating to a temperature within the range 1200 to 1300 F (649 to 704 C), holding at the selected temperature wi

21、thin 25 F (14 C) for not less than 8 hours, and cooling in air: 3.5.2.1 Tensile Properties Shall be as shown in Table 2. 22、3.5.2.2 Hardness Shall be not lower than 40 HRC, or equivalent (See 8.2), but the product shall not be rejected on the basis of hardness if the tensile properties of 3.5.2.1 are acceptable, determined on specimens taken from the same sample as that with nonconforming hardness or from another sample

23、with similar nonconforming hardness. SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS5726E Page 3 of 5_ 3.6 Quality The product, as received by purchaser, shall be uniform in quality and condition, sound, and free from foreign materials and from imperfections detrimental to usage of the product. 3.7 Tolerances Shall conform t

24、o all applicable requirements of AMS2241. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for Inspection The vendor of the product shall supply all samples for vendors tests and shall be responsible for the performance of all required tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform a

25、ny confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the product conforms to specified requirements. 4.2 Classification of Tests Tests for all technical requirements are acceptance tests and shall be performed on each heat or lot as applicable. 4.3 Sampling and Testing Shall be in accordance with

26、 AMS2371. 4.4 Reports The vendor of bars and wire shall furnish with each shipment a report showing the results of tests for composition of each heat and for tensile properties and average grain size of each lot solution heat treated and work strengthened, and for tensile properties and hardness of

27、each lot precipitation heat treated, and stating that the product conforms to the other technical requirements. This report shall include the purchase order number, heat and lot numbers, specific heat treatment temperature used to obtain reported properties, AMS5726E, size, and quantity. 4.5 Resampl

28、ing and Retesting Shall be in accordance with AMS2371. 5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Sizes Except when exact lengths or multiples of exact lengths are ordered, straight bars and wire will be acceptable in mill lengths of 6 to 20 feet (1.8 to 6.1 m) but not more than 10% of any shipment shall be su

29、pplied in lengths shorter than 10 feet (3 m). 5.2 Identification Shall be in accordance with AMS2806. 5.3 Packaging The product shall be prepared for shipment in accordance with commercial practice and in compliance with applicable rules and regulations pertaining to the handling, packaging, and tra

ACKNOWLEDGMENT A vendor shall mention this specification number and its revision letter in all quotations and when acknowledging purchase orders. 7. REJECTIONS Product not conforming
