SCOPE1.1 FormThis specification covers a corrosion and heat-resistant steel in the form of welding wire.1.2 ApplicationThis wire has been used typically as filler metal for gas-tungsten-arc or gas-metal-arc welding of steels of similar composition requiring joints with strength

7、 and corrosion resistance comparable to those of the base metal, but usage is not limited to such application.2. 16、cceptable provided the processes used for drawing or rolling, annealing, and cleaning are controlled to ensure continued conformance to composition requirements.3.1.2 Check AnalysisComposition variations shall meet the applicable requirements of AMS2248. No variation over maximum is permitted for bo

17、ron, tin, lead, oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen.3.2 Melting PracticeSteel shall be multiple melted using consumable electrode practice in the remelt cycle or shall be vacuum induction melted.3.3 ConditionCold worked, bright finish, in a temper and with a surface finish which will provide proper feedi

18、ng of the wire in machine welding equipment.3.3.1 All wire shall have a smooth finish that is free from slivers, depressions, scratches, scale, seams, laps, and foreign matter that would adversely affect welding characteristics, operation of the welding equipment, or properties of the weld metal.3.4

19、 Fabrication3.4.1 Wire shall be formed from rod or bar descaled by a process which does not affect the composition of the wire. Surface irregularities inherent with a forming process that does not tear the wire surfaces are acceptable provided the wire conforms to the tolerances of 3.7.3.4.2 Butt we

20、lding is permissible only at diameters larger than final finished product size provided both ends to be joined are alloy verified using a method capable of distinguishing the alloy from all other alloys processed in the facility, or the repair is made at the wire processing station. The butt weld sh

21、all not interfere with uniform, uninterrupted feeding of the wire in machine welding.3.4.3 In-process annealing, if required, between cold rolling or drawing operations, shall be performed in vacuum or protective atmospheres to ensure freedom from surface oxidation and absorption of other extraneous

22、 elements.3.4.4 Residual elements, drawing compounds, oxides, dirt, oil, dissolved gasses and other foreign materials picked up during wire processing that can adversely affect the welding characteristics, the operation of the equipment, or the properties of the weld metal, shall be removed by clean

23、ing processes that will neither result in pitting nor cause gas absorption by the wire or deposition of substances harmful to welding operations.3.5 PropertiesWire shall conform to the following requirements:3.5.1 WeldabilityMelted wire shall flow smoothly and evenly during welding and shall produce

24、 acceptable welds. ARP1876 may be used to resolve disputes.3.5.2 Response to Heat TreatmentWhen specified, weld metal, approximately inch (6.4 mm) in thickness, deposited on AMS5643 steel, shall attain hardness not lower than 38 HRC, or equivalent (see 8.2), determined in accordance with ASTM E18, a

25、fter being solution heat treated by heating to 1,900 F 25 F (1,038 C 14 C), holding at heat for not less than 30 minutes, and cooling to below 60 F (16 C), and precipitation heat treated by heating to 900 F 10 F (482 C 6 C), holding at heat for 60 minutes 5 minutes, and cooling at a rate equivalent

26、to cooling in air.SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS5803G Page 4 of 63.5.3 Spooled WireShall conform to 3.5.3.1 and 3.5.3.2.3.5.3.1 CastWire, wound on standard 12 inch (305 mm) diameter spools, shall have imparted to it a curvature such that a specimen sufficient in length to form one loop with a 1 inch (25 mm)

27、overlap, when cut from the spool and laid on a flat surface, shall form a circle 15 to 50 inches (381 to 1270 mm) in diameter.3.5.3.2 HelixThe specimen on which cast was determined, when laid on a flat surface and measured between adjacent turns, shall show a vertical separation not greater than 1 i

28、nch (25 mm).3.6 QualityWire, as received by purchaser, shall be uniform in quality and condition, sound, and free from foreign materials and from imperfections detrimental to welding operations, operation of welding equipment, or properties of the deposited weld metal.3.7 Sizes and TolerancesWire sh

32、aser, and shall not vary more than +0, -0.5 inch (-13 mm) from the length ordered.4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS4.1 Responsibility for InspectionThe producer of wire shall supply all samples for producers tests and shall be responsible for the performance of all required tests. Purchaser reserves t

33、he right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the wire conforms to specified requirements.4.2 Classification of Tests4.2.1 Acceptance TestsComposition (3.1), response to heat treatment when specified (3.5.2), sizes and tolerances (3.7), and alloy verifica

34、tion (5.2)are acceptance tests and shall be performed on each heat or lot as applicable.4.2.2 Periodic TestsWeldability (3.5.1), cast (3.5.3.1) and helix (3.5.3.2) are periodic tests and shall be performed at a frequency selected by the producer unless frequency of testing is specified by purchaser.

35、4.3 Sampling and TestingShall be in accordance with AMS2371 and as specified herein.4.4 ReportsThe producer of wire shall furnish with each shipment a report showing the results of tests for composition of each heat and stating that the wire conforms to the other technical requirements. This report

36、shall include the purchase order number, heat and lot numbers, AMS5803G, nominal size, form and quantity.4.5 Resampling and RetestingShall be in accordance with AMS2371.5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY5.1 Wire shall be supplied either on spools in one continuous length for machine welding or in cut lengt

37、hs for manual welding, as ordered. Wire on each spool or in each package of cut lengths shall be from the same heat of steel.5.2 Alloy VerificationWire on each spool or in each package of cut lengths shall be alloy verified by a method acceptable to purchaser. The alloy verification procedures of AR

38、P4926 are recommended.5.2.1 An 8 inch (203 mm) length of wire shall be made accessible at both ends of each spool for alloy verification.5.3 IdentificationShall be in accordance with AMS2816 unless AMS2819 or another method is specified by purchaser.5.4 Packaging and MarkingShall be in accordance wi
