SCOPE 1.1 Form This specification covers a corrosion and heat resistant steel in the form of flat wire. 1.2 Application This wire has been used typically for retaining rings requiring corrosion and heat resistance up to 900 F (482 C)

7、and which may require moderate to severe forming and bending, but usage is not limited to such applications. 2. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Composition Shall conform to the percentages by weight as shown in Table 1, determined by wet chemical methods in acco

12、rdance with ASTM E 353, by spectrochemical methods, or by other analytical methods acceptable to purchaser. 14、le. 3.3 Condition Wire shall be solution heat treated, descaled if necessary, cold drawn or cold rolled to required size, and aged. 3.4 Heat Treatment 3.4.1 Heating Equipment Furnaces may be of any type. The heating medium or atmosphere shall be dry nitrogen or other atmospheres that will not alter

15、the surface composition. 3.4.2 Solution Heat Treatment Except as specified in 3.4.2.1, wire shall be solution heat treated by heating to 1800 F 25 (982 C 14), holding at heat for not less than one hour, and quenching in oil. 16、 3.4.2.1 Continuous Heat Treating: Process parameters (e.g., furnace temperature set points, heat input, travel rate, etc.) for continuous heat treating lines shall be established by the material producer and validated by testing of product to the other requirements of this specification. 3.4.3 Agin

17、g Heat Treatment Wire, cold drawn or cold rolled to required size, shall be aged by heating to a temperature within the range 1150 to 1325 F (621 to 718 C), holding at the selected temperature within 25 F (14 C) for 4 to 6 hours, and cooling at a rate equivalent to cooling in air. Pyrometry shall co

18、nform to AMS2750. 3.5 Properties After Aging Heat Treatment The product shall conform to the following requirements, determined in accordance with ASTM A 370: 3.5.1 Tensile Strength Shall be within the range 185 to 240 ksi (1276 to 1655 MPa). 3.5.1.1 The rectangular cross-section area of the wire sp

19、ecimen for the tensile test shall be determined from measurements of thickness and width taken prior to the tensile test. 20、s of wire specimen, inch (mm) W = width of wire specimen, inch (mm) 3.5.2 Hardness Shall be as shown in Table 2, or equivalent (See 8.2), but the product shall not be rejected on the basis of hardness if the tensile properties of 3.5.1 are acceptable, determined on specimens taken from the same samp

21、le as that with nonconforming hardness or from another sample with similar nonconforming hardness. 23、 usage of the wire. 3.6.2 Wire shall have a smooth, cold drawn or cold rolled surface free from pits, abrasions, and other surface imperfections. Wire for coiling on automatic spring winding machines shall be furnished with a lubricating coating suitable for such purpose, unless otherwise specified.

24、 3.6.3 All welds shall be marked and the method of marking shall be specified on the spool, label, or tag. SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS5810B Page 3 of 6_ 3.7 Dimensions and Tolerances 3.7.1 Edges Wire shall have commercial round edges as shown in Figure 1 and maximum camber shall be 0.5 inch in 8 feet (12.

25、7 mm in 2.4 m). _ FIGURE 1 - WIRE ROUNDED EDGES 3.7.1.1 For wire thickness “T“ 0.021 inch (0.53 mm) and under, the crown dimension “H“ shall be 0.005 inch (0.13 mm) minimum and the maximum dimension “L“ shall be 0.010 inch (0.25 mm) less than the thickness “T“. 3.7.1.2 For wire thickness “T“ over 0.

26、021 inch (0.53 mm), the crown dimension “H“ shall be 0.0075 inch (0.190 mm) minimum and the maximum dimension of “L“ shall be 0.020 inch (0.51 mm) less than the thickness “T“. 3.7.2 Thickness Tolerances Shall be as specified in Table 3. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for Inspection The vendor

31、 of wire shall supply all samples for vendors tests and shall be responsible for the performance of all required tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the wire conforms to specified requirements. 4.2 Classification of Te

32、sts All technical requirements are acceptance tests and shall be performed on each heat or lot as applicable. 4.3 Sampling and Testing Shall be in accordance with AMS2371. 4.4 Reports The vendor of wire shall furnish with each shipment a report showing the results of tests for chemical composition o

33、f each heat and for tensile properties and hardness of each lot, and stating that the product conforms to the other technical requirements. This report shall include the purchase order number, heat and lot numbers, AMS5810B, size, and quantity. 4.5 Resampling and Retesting Shall be in accordance wit

34、h AMS2371. 5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Identification Each coil, spool, drum, or box shall be identified, on a durable label or tag, with not less than the purchase order number, AMS5810B, heat and lot numbers, nominal size, net weight, and manufacturers identification. 35、B Page 5 of 6_ 5.2 Packaging Wire shall be prepared for shipment in accordance with commercial practice and in compliance with applicable rules and regulations pertaining to the handling, packaging, and transportation of the wire to ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery. 5.2.1 Wire shall be ro

36、lled into coil form. Coils shall be individually wrapped in waterproof paper or packed in waterproof drums. Spools, when ordered, shall be boxed. 5.2.2 The wire shall not be tangled and shall unroll freely. 6. ACKNOWLEDGMENT A vendor shall mention this specification number and its revision letter in

37、 all quotations and when acknowledging purchase orders. 7. REJECTIONS Wire not conforming to this specification, or to modifications authorized by purchaser, will be subject to rejection. 8.
