SCOPE1.1 FormThis specification covers an aircraft-quality, low-alloy steel in the form of sheet, st

6、rip, and plate.1.2 ApplicationThese products have been used typically for heat treated parts and structures that may require welding during fabrication, but usage is not limited to such applications. It may be through-hardened to a minimum tensile strength of 180 ksi (1241 MPa) in sections 0.125 inc

7、h (3.18 mm) and under in nominal thickness and proportionately lower strength in heavier section thicknesses.2. 16、orm to the following requirements; hardness, tensile, and bend testing shall be performed in accordance with ASTM A 370:3.3.1 Average Grain SizeShall be ASTM No. 5 or finer determined in accordance with ASTM E 112.3.3.2 Response to Heat TreatmentSpecimens from product 0.499 inch (12.67 mm) and under

17、 in nominal thickness shall have tensile strength not lower than 125 ksi (862 MPa) or hardness not lower than 26 HRC, or equivalent (See 8.2), after being hardened by quenching in oil from 1600 F 10 (871 C 6) and tempered for not less than 30 minutes at not lower than 900 F (482 C).3.3.3 Decarburiza

18、tion3.3.3.1 Decarburization shall be measured by the metallographic method or by the microhardness traverse method in accordance with ASTM E 384. The microhardness method shall be conducted on a hardened but untempered specimen protected during heat treatment to prevent changes in surface carbon con

19、tent. Depth of decarburization, when measured by the microhardness method, is defined as the perpendicular distance from the surface to the depth under that surface where there is no further increase in hardness. Such measurements shall be far enough away from any adjacent surface to be uninfluenced

20、 by any decarburization on the adjacent surface. In the case of dispute, the microhardness traverse method shall govern. 3.3.3.2 AllowanceThe total depth of the decarburization, determined metallographically at a magnification not exceeding 100X or by themicrohardness traverse method on the as-suppl

QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS4.1 Responsibility for InspectionThe vendor of the product shall supply all samples for vendors tests and shall be responsible for the performance of all required tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perfor

27、m any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the product conforms to the specified requirements.4.2 Classification of TestsAll technical requirements of this specification are acceptance tests and shall be performed on each heat or lot as applicable.4.3 Sampling and TestingShall be in

28、accordance with AMS2370.4.4 ReportsThe producer of the product shall furnish with each shipment a report showing the producer identity and country where the metal was melted (i. e., final melt in the case of metal processed by multiple melting operations) and the results of tests for composition and

29、 frequency-severity cleanliness rating of each heat, and for hardness, average grain size and bending of each lot, and stating that the product conforms to the other technical requirements. This report shall include the purchase order number, heat and lot number(s), AMS6352K, product form, size, and

30、 quantity.4.5 Resampling and RetestingShall be in accordance with AMS2370.5. 31、t shall be prepared for shipment in accordance with commercial practice and in compliance with applicable rules and regulations pertaining to the handling, packaging, and transportation of the product to ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery.6. 32、cation number and its revision letter in all quotations and when acknowledging purchase orders.7. REJECTIONSProduct not conforming to this specification, or to modifications authorized by purchaser, will be subject to rejection.8.
