17、.1 or 3.3.1.2.3.3.1.1 Metallographic MethodA cross section taken perpendicular to the surface shall be prepared, etched, and examined metallographically at a magnification not to exceed 100X. The product shall not show a layer of complete (ferrite) or partial decarburization exceeding the limits of
18、Table 2.3.3.1.2 Hardness Traverse MethodThe total depth of decarburization shall be determined by a traverse method using microhardness testing in accordance with ASTM E384, at a magnification not exceeding 100X, conducted on a hardened but untempered specimen protected during heat treatment to prev
19、ent changes in surface carbon content. Tempering is generally not recommended, but if tempered, the tempering temperature shall be not higher than 300 F (149 C). Depth of decarburization is defined as the perpendicular distance from the surface to the depth under that surface where there is not furt
20、her increase in hardness. Such measurements shall be far enough away from any adjacent surface to be uninfluenced by any decarburization on the adjacent surface. 22、5.40 to 50.80, incl 0.893.3.1.3 When determining the depth of decarburization, it is permissible to disregard local areas provided the decarburization of such areas does not exceed the above limits by more than 0.005 inch (0.13 mm) and the width is 0.065 inch (1.65 mm) or less.3.3.1.4 In the case of
23、 dispute, the total depth of decarburization determined using the microhardness traverse method shall govern.3.3.2 BendingProduct 0.437 inch (11.10 mm) and under in nominal thickness shall be tested in accordance with ASTM E290 using a sample prepared nominally 0.75 inch (19.0 mm) in width with its
24、axis of bending parallel to the direction of rolling and shall withstand without cracking when bending at room temperature through the angle and bend radius shown in Table 3. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROV
30、ISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for Inspection The producer of the product shall supply all samples for producers tests and shall be responsible for the performance of all required tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the pro
31、duct conforms to specified requirements.4.2 Classification of Tests All technical requirements are acceptance tests and shall be performed on each heat or lot as applicable.SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS6437J Page 5 of 64.3 Sampling and Testing Shall be in accordance with AMS2370.4.4 Reports The producer of
32、the product shall furnish with each shipment a report showing the producer identity, country where the metal was melted (e.g., final melt in the case of metal processed by multiple melting operations), the results of tests for composition and frequency-severity cleanliness rating of each heat, and f
33、or condition, and bending of each lot, and for tensile properties, hardness and average grain size of each lot after heat treatment, and stating that the product conforms to the other technical requirements. This report shall include the purchase order number, heat and lot numbers, AMS6437J,product
34、form, size, and quantity.4.5 Resampling and Retesting Shall be in accordance with AMS2370.5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Identification Shall be in accordance with AMS2807.5.2 Protective Treatment The product shall be protected from corrosion prior to shipment.5.3 Packaging The product shall be pre
35、pared for shipment in accordance with commercial practice and in compliance with applicable rules and regulations pertaining to the handling, packaging, and transportation of the product to ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery.6. ACKNOWLEDGMENT A producer shall include this specification numb
36、er and its revision letter in all quotations and when acknowledging purchase orders.7. REJECTIONS Product not conforming to this specification, or to modifications authorized by purchaser, will be subject to rejection.8.
