18、n the tempers identified in the following paragraphs shall, after having been processed to tempers also identified therein, have properties conforming to those specified in Table II, as applicable, in the direction of work. Such capability shall be demonstrated when specified (See 6.2).3.2.2.1 Mater
19、ial in the Annealed (O) Temper: Material up through 6.500 inches in diameter or 4 inches in thickness and 36 inches in cross-sectional area supplied in the O temper, without subsequent cold work or forming operations, shall, after proper re-solution and artificial aging or natural aging, develop the
20、 properties specified for the T62 or T42 tempers respectively.3.2.2.2 Material in the T4, T6, T36, T351, and T851 Tempers: Material supplied in the T4, T6, T36, T351, and T851 tempers shall, without subsequent cold work or forming operations, be re-solution heat treatable and aged to the properties
21、specified for the T62 or T42 tempers.3.2.2.3 Material in the T4 and T351 Tempers: Material supplied in the T4 and T351 tempers shall be artificially aged to the properties specified for the T6 and T851 tempers, respectively. Such capability shall be demonstrated when specified (See 6.2).3.2.3 Bendin
22、g: When specified (See 6.2), the material shall withstand, without cracking, the bend test specified in AMS-QQ-A-225. The values for bend factor N are given in Table III.3.3 Finish: See AMS-QQ-A-225.3.4 Marking: In addition to marking required in AMS-QQ-A-225, material in the T4, T6, T36, T62, T351,

QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS: See AMS-QQ-A-225 and the following:4.1 Heat Treatment, Aging Period Before Mechanical Property Testing: Specimens in the T4, T42 and T351 tempers will not be required to be tested within 4 days after completion of the heat treatment. If, wit
25、hin this period, the manufacturer elects to test samples which fail to meet the requirements, he can discard these initial test results and test additional specimens selected after four days of aging. These specimens shall be selected from the same location in the lot from which the prior specimens
26、were removed.4.2 Mechanical Test for Aging Capability: 4.2.1 Number of Tests for Aging Capability: From material in the annealed (O) temper, an additional number of specimens equal to those required by AMS-QQ-A-225 shall be taken and tested after solution heat treatment to determine compliance with
27、3.2.2.5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY: See AMS-QQ-A-225.6. NOTES:6.1 Intended Use: This alloy is intended for use where high strength is required and welding is not involved. Tempers T351 and T4 should not be used where optimum corrosion resistance is required. Tempers T6 and T851 should be specified wh
28、en optimum resistance to stress corrosion is required. The T351 and T851 tempers are intended primarily to provide material with low residual stresses and consequent minimum distortion during machining.6.2 Ordering Data: Purchasers should select the preferred options permitted herein and include the
29、 following information in procurement documents:Title, number, and date of this specification.Form, quantity, and temper required (See 1.2.1).Dimensions required.Mechanical properties and dimensional tolerance requirements for sizes not specifically covered.Whether bend test is required (See 3.2.3).
