To ensure that the aerospace fiber optics industry also adop

6、ts these same high standards, its essential that minimum training and certification requirements be established. This document outlines the minimum training requirements for all personnel working as aerospace fiber optics fabricators in accordance with aerospace industry best practices. 1. SCOPE Thi

7、s document establishes re-certification guidelines applicable to fiber optic fabricator technical training for individuals involved in the manufacturing, installation, support, integration and testing of fiber optic systems. HOW TO USE THIS DOCUMENT This document is intended to be used as a guideline for all persons conducting aerospace fiber optic

26、s fabricator re-certification training. This training is broken into 18 sections. Each section contains detailed hands-on training competencies. To successfully complete this training each student must demonstrate each competency in the presence of the instructor. 1. Demonstrate fiber optic connecto

27、r endface cleaning methods with approved materials as described in AIR6031. 2. Using an optical (minimum 200X) microscope the student shall view the endface of a multimode connector and successfully identify a crack in the core. 3. Using optical (minimum 200X) and video (minimum 100X) microscopes th

28、e student shall view the endfaces of several polished multimode connectors and successfully evaluate the endface per AS5675 Section 2. 4. Using an optical (maximum 50X) microscope the student shall view the ferrule of a multimode connector and successfully inspect it for excess epoxy and contaminati

29、on. 5. Using a visual fault locator (VFL) the student shall successfully locate a break in a tight-buffered optical fiber. 6. Using a VFL the student shall successfully locate a macrobend in a tight-buffered optical fiber. 7. The components detailed below shall be placed together on a table and the

30、student shall successfully identify each item. The student shall be able to distinguish each connector as commercial or aerospace grade. a. ST connector b. 35、r jumper with an external spring connector that has an insertion loss less than 0.75 dB when tested in accordance with AS5675 section 3.5.2. 11. Build at a minimum one PC finish multimode or single-mode single fiber jumper from acrylate coated aerospace approved fiber optic cable with MIL-PRF-29504/

36、4 pin and MIL-PRF-29504/5 socket termini assembled into a 4-channel MIL-DTL-38999 Series III connector/cable assembly that has an insertion loss less than 0.75 dB when tested in accordance with AS5675 section 3.5.2. 12. Demonstrate proficiency in cleaning and inspecting the termini in the assembled

37、4-channel MIL-DTL-38999 Series III connector pair. 13. Disassemble and assemble at a minimum one 4-channel MIL-DTL-38999 Series III connector pair/cable assembly with MIL-PRF-29504/4 pin and MIL-PRF-29504/5 socket termini. Insertion loss after assembly shall be less than 0.75 dB when tested in accor

38、dance with AS5675 section 3.5.2 SAE ARP5602/14 Page 6 of 6 14. The student shall demonstrate proficiency in measuring insertion loss in accordance with AS5675 section 3.5.2. 15. The student shall identify a flat and a PC polish from interferometer images or actual interferometer measurements (recomm

39、ended).16. The student shall identify an endface polish with a protruding optical fiber from interferometer images or actual interferometer measurements (recommended). 17. The student shall identify an endface polish with an undercut optical fiber from interferometer images or actual interferometer

40、measurements (recommended). 18. The student shall identify a PC endface with an apex offset that exceeds 50 m from interferometer images or actual interferometer measurements (recommended). 4.
