Definitions3.1 Two-BlockingContact of the lower load block or hook with the upper load block, boom point, or boom pointmachinery.3.2 Two-Block SensorA device which senses impending two-blocking.3.3 Two-Block Warning SystemA device applied to cranes which warns of impending t
7、wo-blocking.3.4 Two-Block Limit SystemA device applied to cranes which prevents two-blocking.4. Performance Criteria4.1 The Two-Block Warning System is to warn the operator by audible, visual or other means of impending two-blocking in sufficient time to allow reasonable reaction of the operator.4.2
8、 The Two-Block Limit System shall perform one or more of the following:4.2.1 CONTROL LOCK-OUTThe system is to prevent two-blocking by automatically neutralizing the control and/orstopping motion which would result in two-blocking. The system is to allow control of motion in directionsthat eliminate
9、two-blocking. Occurring motions that do not affect a two-blocking condition are not to beinterrupted and are to be allowed to continue in the desired controlled manner.4.2.2 CONTROLLED PAYOUTThe system shall prevent a two-blocking condition by providing controlled payout ofthe load hoist rope at imp
10、ending two-blocking.SAE J1305 Reaffirmed NOV2007-2-4.3 Temperature EffectThe system shall operate over an ambient temperature range of 30 to +50 C (22+122 F).4.4 Operation CheckThe system shall have a means for the operator or other responsible person to determinethat it is operative prior to crane
11、use.4.5 TestingThe two-block prevention system shall be performance tested by the installer initially and by the userat intervals recommended by the manufacturer, or at any time that there is an indication of possible malfunction(See 4.1, 4.2 and Section 6).5. General Requirements5.1 Installation an
12、d MaintenanceInstallation and maintenance of the two-block sensor and maintenance of thecrane should be in accordance with the appropriate manufacturers recommendations.5.2 IdentificationLabels, when applicable, shall be placed on the device or in the operators cab, or both, givingthe following info
13、rmation:a. Basic operating instructions and precautions.b. Device manufacturers name, address, device model number and serial number.5.3 ManualOperation, installation and service manual(s) shall be provided by the manufacturer and shall beavailable to the operator or other responsible persons at all

Performance Evaluation Tests6.1 General Testing Requirements6.1.1 Specific test instructions shall be provided by the manufacturer.6.1.2 Test personnel shall be thoroughly familiar with the devices operation and the manufacturers recommendedtest procedures and shall check the system for al

16、ffort of WorkingGroup E, SAE ORMTC Sub-Committee 17.The proposed Recommended Practice establishes minimum performance criteria for devices whichsignal or prevent two-blocking of hoist mechanisms on cranes being used in lifting service.Damage to the crane boom or wire rope or wire rope failure due to
17、 the raising of the load block into theboom point or upper load block has resulted in the need for defining and establishing performancerequirements of two-block systems.This document was balloted by ORMTC in March, 1980 under the title “Two-Block Prevention Systems inLifting Crane Service“ with 3 d
18、isapproval votes among the ballot results. Subsequent revision toaccommodate these disapprovals become significant enough in both editorial and technical areas that itwas deemed appropriate to recirculate the revised document through SC 17 members.The next balloting among SC17 members resulted in th
19、ree disapprovals, all of which questioned certaintechnical descriptions of the systems occurring functions. These three disapprovals were subsequentlyfully satisfied and the document sent on for ORMTC approval.Resulting ORMTC ballotting resulted in no disapprovals, however, several suggestions and c
