12、Marking and Labeling Systems3. Fittings3.1 There shall be at least one system service port which complies with SAE J639 for HFC-134a (R-134a). If botha high side and low side service port exist, there shall be at least one high side and at least one low sidesystem service port which complies with SA

14、 to be retrofit, HFC-134a (R-134a) conversion assemblies shallbe fitted. The conversion assembly shall attach to the CFC-12 (R-12) fitting with a thread lock adhesive and/ora separate mechanical latching mechanism (e.g., snap-ring, drive-wire, roll pin, etc.) in a manner that preventsthe assembly fr

15、om being removed inadvertently.3.2.1 A conversion assembly that consists of flexible portion(s) as well as nonflexible couplings and/or fittings shallcomply with SAE J639. Such a conversion assembly, up to and including the appropriate CFC-12 (R-12)interface, shall be considered a hose assembly and

16、shall meet all requirements of SAE J2064. Such aconversion assembly shall also meet the following vibration test requirements. Following successfulcompletion of the SAE J2064 Coupling Integrity Test, subject these same test specimen assemblies, stillcharged with the appropriate amount of refrigerant

17、 (5.3.2.1), to the following vibration testing sequence:a. Install each test specimen assembly on a vibration table with the conversion adaptor positioneddownward.b. Expose the assembly to 77 C + 5 C and vibrate at 30 Hz + 5 Hz and 1.57 mm total displacement in avertical direction for 200 h followed

18、 by 200 h in a horizontal direction.At the end of test, verify gravimetrically that the test assembly still has a refrigerant charge. Refrigerantleakage at the end of test shall not exceed 0.45 kg per 40 years. Leak detection equipment andmethodology shall conform to SAE J1627 and J1628.3.2.2 A conv

19、ersion assembly that consists solely of nonflexible couplings and/or fittings shall comply with SAEJ639. Such a conversion assembly, up to and including the appropriate CFC-12 (R-12) interface, shall betested in accordance with SAE J2064 Coupling Integrity Testing sections covering coupling integrit

20、y, testspecimens, charging and exposure, after which refrigerant leakage shall not exceed 0.45 kg per 40 years.Leak detection equipment and methodology shall conform to SAE J1627 and J1628. Following successfulcompletion of this “modified“ SAE J2064 Coupling Integrity Test, subject these same test s

21、pecimenassemblies, still charged with the appropriate amount of refrigerant, to the following vibration testingsequence.a. Install each test specimen assembly on a vibration table with the conversion adaptor positiondownward.b. Expose the assembly to 77 C + 5 C and vibrate at 30 Hz + 5 Hz and 1.57 m

22、m total displacement in avertical direction for 200 h followed by 200 h in a horizontal direction.Refrigerant leakage at the end of test shall not exceed 0.45 kg per 40 years. Leak detection equipment andmethodology shall conform to SAE J1627 and J1628.3.2.3 Only a conversion assembly meeting the re

23、quirements of 3.2.1 and 3.2.2 may be labeled with “SAE J1660“or “Complies with SAE J1660.“3.3 When new HFC-134a (R-134a) service ports are added, they shall conform to SAE J639. Such added retrofitservice ports shall comply with SAE J2064 Coupling Integrity Test 5.3.2 and 5.3.3.3.4 All CFC-12 (R-12)

24、 service ports shall either be retrofitted with conversion assemblies as in 3.2, or be renderedincompatible with CFC-12 (R-12) related service equipment by fitting with a device such as a plug or cap. Thisdevice shall attach to the CFC-12 (R-12) fitting with a thread locking adhesive and/or a separa

25、te latchingmechanism (e.g., snap-ring, drive-wire, roll pin, nonremovable plug) that prevents the device from beingremoved inadvertently.4. LabelsWhen a retrofit procedure is performed, a label(s) documenting the change shall be affixed to thevehicle as described as follows.4.1 The retrofit label sh

27、el shall be PMS 2975, Sky Blue.4.1.2 The retrofit label shall comply with SAE J639. The retrofit label material and construction shall conform to allspecifications and requirements appropriate for the intended installed location, i.e., a decal installed in theengine compartment shall meet temperatur

28、e requirements. Testing of decals shall meet ANSI/UL 969-1991.4.1.3 The retrofit label shall contain “Retrofit procedure performed to SAE J1661,“ as well as the refrigerant chargeamount and lubricant type.4.1.4 The retrofit label shall be affixed over the existing R12 label, provided this does not l

29、imit visibility of otherinformation unrelated to CFC-12 (R-12). In any case, the retrofit label shall be affixed as close to the originalR12 label as possible, on an easily accessible part or surface not normally replaced during service or vehicleaccident damage replacement.4.1.5 All information rel

30、ated to CFC-12 (R-12) on existing labels shall be rendered unreadable by some permanentmeans, such as complete removal, sectioning, tamper-proof masking, permanent marking, or overlay by theretrofit label.4.1.6 The retrofit label, or the auxiliary label described in 4.2, shall contain the name and a

31、ddress of the companyor individual who performed the retrofit, the date of the retrofit, type and amount of refrigerant, and type andamount of lubricant used. If an auxiliary label is used, the retrofit label shall contain the location of theauxiliary label.4.2 An auxiliary label shall be required i

32、f the retrofit label does not contain all the information required in 4.1.4.2.1 The background color of the auxiliary label shall be PMS 2975, Sky Blue.4.2.2 The auxiliary label material and construction shall conform to all specifications and requirements appropriatefor the intended installed locat
