、en in brackets at the beginning or after the heading of a clause islare, unless otherwise stated, the number(s) of the relevant clause(s) of SAW 1200 DK. 1 Essential project specification clauses Set out suitable clauses in portion 2 of the project specification to provide essential information, as
、follows: a) (3.1.3) Where a gsotextile is to be used, specify the minimum thickness, and other requirements with which it must comply (see also 3.2.2 below). b) (3.1.4) Where a geomembrane is to be used, state whether it is to be resistant to ultraviolet light and, if applicable, specify other requi

Except where such data have been given in the sched
、ule or on the tender drawings, set out suitable clauses covering items such as the following in portion 2 of the project specification : (3.1 .l) State whether stone is to be subjected to the weathering test or to the durability test, or to both (see also 3.2.1 below). (3.1.2) State (or show on the
、drawings) the required dimensions of the gabion cages. Where so required, state that PVC-coated wire is to be used for the manufacture of gabion cages. (3.2.1.2) State in the terms used in column 1 of table 2 of SABS 1200 DK, the size/mass of pitching to be constructed. (5.3.1) Where pitching is to
、be backed, specify the thickness of the backing. (5.3.4 and 5.3.5) Designate the areas in which wired pitching or grouted wired pitching is to be used, if applicable. (6.1) Where a degree of accuracy other than Degree of Accuracy II is required, set out the details. (8.2.3 and 8.2.4 and see also 1.3
、.5 of section DK of SABS 0120-3). Where appropriate, include in the project specification requirements to amplify those covering scheduled items. Additional clauses 3.1 General Where it is necessary to amplify or otherwise to vary the terms of SABS 1200 DK to render them suitable for use in projects
、 to be carried out in particular locations or under particular circumstances, include in portion 2 of the project specification clauses dealing with matters other than those covered by clauses 1 and 2 above. (See also 1.3 of section DK of SABS 0120-3.) 3.2 Normal projects NOTE - To meet requirements
、 imposed by various norms of economic development, projects are classified as normal, prestige, subeconomic, and labour-based projects (see clause 4 of the Introduction to SABS 0120-3). 3.2.1 Unweathered stone (3.1 .l .l, 7.3 and 7.4) As gabions and stone pitching are both used in situations subject
、 to erosion, it is particularly important that the stone used be resistant to weathering. However, the carrying out of tests on stone of the size normally used for gabions and pitching could present problems in the laboratory. Provision has been made in 7.3 and 7.4 of SABS 1200 DK for one or two tes

Should neither of these tests be considered suitable for the particular circumstances or should they be considered inadequate by the engineer, set out in the project spec
