6、ated, the number(s) of the relevant clause(s) of SABS 1200 MK. 1. PRE-TENDER CONSIDERtlTIONS 1.1 INVESTIGATIONS. No specific recommendations. 1.2 ADMINISTRATION. No specific recommendations. 1.3.1 Expansion Joints i.n Ye* (Subclauses 3.5 and 5.2) a) Materials. Consider using for expansion joints a p

7、olyurethane-based compound or a bituminous non-slumping joint filler, provided that the material complies with BS 249g1). h) Frequency of joints. Opinions differ between local authorities as to whether expansion joints or gaps should be placed at 6 m or 20 m centres. In practice, gaps become filled

8、with solid material and become ineffective, and expansion joints remain operative only for as long as the jointing material remains flexible. It appears that gaps or, preferably, joints at 20 m centres are adequate except where a long length of kerbi.ng butts against an immovable but vulncrahle stru

9、cture at one end, in which case joints at 6 m centres are warranted. 1.3.2 Heddlng Material (Subclause 3.9 and 5.2). Any requlrelnent that precast kcrbinq be l-icddcd on concrete (see Subclause 2.1 of Section MK of Part 2 of the code) negates one of the advanLages of the use of precast concrete prod

10、ucts. To obtain correct alignment the kerb layer must place under the kerbing as a bedding material a thin layer of one of the materials specified in Subclause 3.9 of SAnS l200 MK. Concrete as a backing material is useful in certain circwnstdnces. 3.3 Ets on In-Situ Extruded Concrete Kerbs (Subclaus

11、e 7.2.2.2). Problems have been experienced in obtajning a strength of 25 MPa in concrete as laid (not cubes) in extruded kerbs. Consider including a requirement for a) the taking -. and testing of cores from kerbing as a standard method of testing (An adaptation of SABS Method 65) to enable samples

12、to be taken from units of thickness 125 mm may bc nccessary for this purpose); or b) the construction of special trial sections for testiny. DESIGN REQUIREMENTS EXTRUDED CONCRETE GRADE (Subclause 3.7). For the reasons set out in Subclause 3.1.1 ot Section MK of Part 5 of the code, do not dcsiyn an e

13、xtruded kerb to be made of concrete of strength appreciably higher than 25 MPa. DESIGN OF STORMWATER INLETS. See CSIR Report MEC 4333) for details of stormwater inlet design. APPLICABILITY OF OTHER CODES The requirements of SABS 0100 are generally applicable. TEST PROCEDURES The requirements of Clau

14、se 7 of SABS 1200 MK are applicable.
