For the purposes of this part of the code, contract administration starts with instructions to the contractor to commence work as set out in Subclause 4.1 of the Introduction. The contractor should ensure that construction methods are such that there is no risk of equip
8、ment being lost or damaged. (See also 3.2.2 and 3.2 3 below.) ADMINISTRATION Telephones Subclause 4 1 of SABS 1200 AB requires the contractor to apply to the Department of Posts and Telecommuncations for the installatron of telephones for hrmself and for the engrneer thus establshing that the contra
9、ctor is responsble for payment of accounts to the sad Department and for all dealngs wth that Department However he IS not required to bear the cost of renting the ergmeers telephone or of calls made by the engineer (see Subclause 5 4 of SABS 1200 AB) The engineer should therefore arrange for the em
10、ployer to refund direct to the contractor the cost of the engineers telephone calls and telephone rental The cost of the contractor S telephone calls and rental are under the control of and are the responsbility of the contractor Care of Survev Fwiprnent (See Subclause 3.2.4 (PSAB 3) of Section AB o

Although the contractor is required to insure survey instruments against loss or damage and is under an obligation to replace them when they are for any reason removed from the works, the engineer should take proper care of the Instruments, both because he will be inconvenienc

As the contractor is entitled to demand the replacement of or payment at replacement cost in respect of any items that are not returned to him when the works are completed, the engineer should obtain detaled receipts when the various ittsms are returned.
