For the purposes of this part of the code, contract administration starts with instructions to the contractor to commence work as set out in Subclause 4 of Section 0. IPWEDIAT

The engineer should give immediate attention to all matters necessary to ensure that the start of the contract is not adverse1.y affected by lack of information. In particular, for each curve in the kerbing, he should provide pegs or data from which finished a
8、lignment and levels can be established by the contractor. 3. DURING CONSTRUCTION 3.1 METHODS OF CONSTRUCTION 3.1.1 Construction of Truly Straight and Neatly Jointed Extruded Kerhing (Subclauses 5.4 and 6.1). Forms should be accurately set to line and level and should be firmly held in position durin
9、q the placing of the concrete. In order to achleve this, line and level pegs should be inserted at the following spacings : a) Straight and constant grade 10 m b) Horizontal curves, radii greater than 15 m, and vertical curves 5 m C) Bellmouths, closes, and radll of 15 m and less 2 m Each guide line
10、 should be set accurately to the line and level pegs and sufficient intermediate supports should be provided at intervals not greater than 3 m to give a smooth alignment. On each curve of radius 15 m and less the maximum angular deflection of the line at intermediate supports should be 3 O. Stops at
11、 the ends of sections should be accurately placed to ensure that jolnts between adlacent sections are truly perpendicular to the surface of the concrete and at right angles to the edge of the road. 3.2 ADMINISTRATION 3.2.1 Control of the Extrusion In-Situ of Concrete Kerhlng (Subclauses 4.1 and 5.8.
12、4). It has been reported that the small machines available on the market for the extrusion of concrete kerbs are not capable of placing a concrete mlx wthout leaving air volds in the concrete. If vibration gives proper compaction, the desired shape cannot be achieved, and if the machine is gentle en
13、ough to give a good extrusion lt does not compact the concrete properly. In practice it is very difficult to comply with the requirements of the specification. 3.2.2 Concrete-Lined Open Drains (Subclause 5.6 and 8.2.13). On some soil types it may be necessary to use the more expensive polyethylene s
14、heeting instead of a sprayed bitumen emulsion primer. Payment should be vnrled accordingly where n change is agreed on site.
