For the purpose of this part of the code, contract administration starts with instructions to the contractor to comne
7、nce work as set out in Subclause 4.1 of Section 0. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE HANDING OVER OF THE SITE RETRO-REFLECTIVE ROAD STUDS (Subclause 3.3.3). The Contractor should submit samples early and the engineer should give his decision as quickly as possible. (See also 3.2.3 below.) COLOURS TO BE USED (Su
8、bclauses 5.2.2.1, 3.2.8.2, etc.). Except where the required colours are as specified in SABS 1200 MM or given on the drawings, irmnediately the contract is awarded the contractor should be told what colours will be required, to enable him to arrange timeously for supplies to be available. 9、STRUCTION METHODS OF CONSTRUCTION Setting out of Road Markings (Subclause 5.3.3). The paint spots placed at intervals to ensure that the road markings can be accurately applied, should normally be of diameter approximately 10 nun. ADMINISTRATION Cracks in Timber Posts (Subclause 3.1.2.1). Timber pos

Where the posts most economically available to the contractor are known to be near the limits of acceptability in terms of SABS 45711, the contractor should reach agreement with the engineer on the applicable limi
11、t and the extent of banding required, before he orders or takes delivery of the posts. Composite Board (Subclause 3.2.5). Composite board should consist of a synthetic resin bonded timber particle core faced with plies consisting of a synthetic resin impregnated paper, heat bonded under high pressur
12、e to form a homogeneous structure. Such board should comply with the relevant physical requirements of SABS 92g2) for Type M board. High Intensity Grade Retro-reflective Material (Subclause 3.2.9). The requirements specified for high intensity grade retro-reflective material are requirements given i
13、n standard specification FP-79 197g3) of the Us Department of Transportation and material ordered from local suppliers of such material should comply with that specification. (See also Subclause 1.3.5 of Section MM of Part 3 of the code.)
