、sisting door units for record rooms1)1 Scope This specification covers the requirements for metal fire resisting door units that are capable of passing a test in which they are gradually heated (over a period of 60 min) to a temperature of 945 C and are then maintained at that temperature for 30 min

、. Amdt 1 NOTE a) Because it is impractical to test samples taken from each consignment of fire resisting door units for compliance with some of the requirements of this specification, no specific sampling procedure has been included. The tests specified in section 5 shall be carried out, under the s

、upervision of an independent authority, on at least one fire resisting door unit from each group (as defined in section 2). Some of the requirements and their allied tests are of such a nature that compliance can be proved only by means of a suitable agreement between supplier and purchaser. This ag

、reement would have to include: Amdt 2 1) the submission to the purchaser of proof of compliance with the specification of the prototype, i.e. the group test sample (see 5.2); and 2) the granting to the purchaser of access to records of raw materials used and of access to the factory to ensure that h

、is consignment of fire resisting door units has been made in the same manner as the prototype and from materials at least equal in quality to those used in the manufacture of the prototype. b) The titles of standards referred to by number in the specification are given in appendix A. c) Requirements

、 that must be specified by the purchaser and a requirement that must be agreed upon between purchaser and supplier are listed in appendix B. 2 Definitions 2.1 For the purposes of this specification the following definitions shall apply: acceptable acceptable to the authority administering this stand

Cut a second series of lines at right angles to and across the first series of lines to produce sixteen 2 mm squares and examine for loss of adhesion. If no square shows any sign of fla

、king off, there is no loss of adhesion. 5.4 Tests for nickel and chrome plated coatings Use the methods described in SANS 135 to determine the adhesion and thickness of coatings. When determining the thickness of nickel layers, use the method in which sections are made and the thickness is measured

Insert the key and, using suitable means, operate the lock for a total of 60 000 opening and closing cycles at a rate of 55-65 cycles per minute, and then check for compliance w

、ith the requirements of 3.7(b). 5.6 Test for boltwork Rigidly fix the fire resisting door in a vertical position and, by means of an actuating mechanism, operate the handle so as to move the bolts to the fully open and fully closed positions 60 000 times, at a rate of 15-20 opening-and-closing cycle

、s per minute. Ensure that approximately the same shock force is applied to the bolts as is applied in normal operation. On completion of the test, examine the handle and boltwork for compliance with the requirements of 3.3(b). 5.7 Test for door and hinges Rigidly fix the door-frame in a vertical pos

、ition with the door hung on the hinges, and with the bolts in the open position. Then use an actuating mechanism (attached to the handle) to subject the door, at a rate of 5-10 cycles per minute, to 10 000 opening-and-closing cycles during each of which the door is opened and closed through 90 and a

、pproximately the same shock force is applied by the door to the door-frame as is applied in normal operation. On completion of the test, examine the door, door handle, door-frame, and hinges for compliance with the requirements of 3.4(c). 5.8 Fire test NOTE This test shall be conducted on a fire res
