、 essentially of a wax or a blend of waxes in water or, when relevant, a mixture of water and organic solvents. It shall not be harmful to, or discolour surfaces of the types to which it is intended to be applied. It shall not be irritating to the normal skin and its vapours shall not be toxic to hum

SANS 15:2008 Edition 2.3 4 3.2 Form and type 3.2.1 Form The wax polish shall be either a liquid or a paste, as specified by the purchaser, and shall comply with the following requirements: a) Liquid polish. Liquid

、 polish shall be a free-flowing homogeneous liquid between 15 and 30 C and free from lumps or solid particles. b) Paste polish. Paste polish shall be a homogeneous smooth paste free from lumps and granulations. 3.2.2 Type Liquid polish shall be of one of the following types, as specified by the purc

、haser: Type 1. Polish containing organic solvents. Type 2. Polish containing no organic solvent. 3.3 Freedom from grit When approximately 0,1 g of the polish is rubbed between two glass slides, there shall be no evidence of grittiness. 3.4 Colour The colour of the paste polish shall be as specified

、by the purchaser. 3.5 Heat-cool stability When tested in accordance with 6.3, paste polish shall not show signs of separation, and there shall be not more than 5 mL separation of suspended matter from 100 mL of liquid polish. 3.6 Penetration The penetration of paste polish, determined in accordance

、with 6.4, shall be 50 95 units (tenths of a millimetre) at 20 C and not more than 90 units (tenths of a millimetre) at 35 C. Amdt 1; amdt 2 3.7 Performance When tested in accordance with 6.5, the polish shall apply easily and shall dry to a thin non-tacky film within 15 min. On rubbing with a soft c

It shall be so packed as to prevent leakage and deterioration of the product,

、 and the containers shall be strong enough to withstand normal handling and transportation. Each container shall contain only polish from the same batch. The containers may be packed in bulk packages, but only containers of the same size and bearing the same batch identification shall be packed toge

、 capacity and number of containers; c) the form of the polish; d) the batch identification. 5 Sampling and compliance with the specification NOTE This section applies to the sampling for inspection and testing before acceptance or rejection of single lots (consignments) in cases where no information

、 about the implementation of quality control or testing during manufacture is available to help in assessing the quality of the lot. It is also used as the procedure for adjudicating in cases of dispute. 5.1 Sampling The following sampling procedure shall be applied in determining whether a lot comp

、lies with the appropriate requirements of the specification. The sample so drawn shall be deemed to represent the lot. After inspecting the lot for compliance with the appropriate requirements of section 4, take from it at random at least six containers and mark each container with the date of sampl

、ing and, when relevant, the batch number. 5.2 Compliance with the specification The lot shall be deemed to comply with the requirements of the specification if, after inspection of the lot and inspection and testing of the sample taken in accordance with 5.1, no defective is found. 6 Inspection and

、methods of test 6.1 Inspection Inspect the containers in the sample taken in accordance with 5.1 for compliance with the appropriate requirements of section 4, and after conditioning (see 6.2), check their contents for compliance with those requirements of the specification compliance with which is

、not assessed by the tests given in 6.3 6.9 (inclusive). 6.2 Conditioning of samples Condition all samples at room temperature for at least 7 d before testing.
