Foreword This South African standard was approved by National Committee SABS SC 138G, Water and sanitation Equipment and systems Plumbing components, in accorda

This document supersedes SANS 1808-35:2004 (edition 1.1). A vertical line in the margin shows where the text has been technically modified by amendment

15、 part of SANS 1808 specifies requirements for electronically operated taps and valves of size up to 32 mm, for use in hot-water and cold-water systems at a working pressure of up to 600 kPa. 2 Normative references The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this text, cons

16、titute provisions of this part of SANS 1808. All standards are subject to revision and, since any reference to a standard is deemed to be a reference to the latest edition of that standard, parties to agreements based on this part of SANS 1808 are encouraged to take steps to ensure the use of the mo

17、st recent editions of the standards indicated below. Information on currently valid national and international standards can be obtained from the SABS Standards Division. 20、s standard Amdt 1 SANS 1808-35:2010 Edition 1.2 4 3.2 agreed agreed upon between the manufacturer and the purchaser 3.3 unit a tap or valve, as appropriate 4 Requirements 4.1 Materials 4.1.1 Plastics materials The type and quality of the material of a plastics component part shall be such as to ensu

21、re a) the acceptable performance and durability of the component under normal operating conditions, and b) that, when the component is subjected to a temperature of 150 C 5 C in an air-circulating oven for 60 min 5 min, there is no sign of blistering of the material or weld-line splitting of the com

22、ponent. Any damage around the injection point shall not have penetrated to a depth of more than 50 % of the thickness of the material at that point. 4.1.2 Metallic materials Metallic materials that are intended to come into contact with water during operation shall be a) a copper alloy that, when te

23、sted in accordance with 5.3, shows no individual penetration reading that exceeds 250 m, two samples being taken from each cast component (one from the thinnest part and the other from the thickest part) and one sample from every other component, or b) a stainless steel of an acceptable grade. Amdt

24、1 4.2 Performance requirements 4.2.1 Working pressure rating The design pressure rating of the unit shall be such that the unit can tolerate a working pressure of up to 600 kPa, and when the unit is tested in accordance with 5.2.2.1, there shall be no leakage at the seat. 4.2.2 Method of operation T

25、he unit shall operate electronically and the time and mode of operation of each cycle shall be acceptable to the type of unit and the duty it has to perform (see 4.5). Amdt 1 4.2.3 Environmental protection The unit shall be protected against its operating environment in an acceptable manner. Amdt 14

26、.2.4 Safety operation In the event of a power failure, the unit shall close automatically to ensure that the water flow is shut off completely. SANS 1808-35:2010 Edition 1.2 5 4.3 End connections 4.3.1 Inlet connection (of a tap or a valve) 4.3.1.1 Size The size of the unit shall be 10 mm, or 15 mm,

27、 or 20 mm, or 25 mm, or 32 mm as agreed upon (see annex A). 4.3.1.2 Type of connection The inlet connection of the unit shall be as agreed upon (see annex A) and shall comprise a) a parallel thread, in accordance with SANS 1109-1, or b) a compression type fitting that complies with SANS 1067-1, or c

28、) a capillary type fitting that complies with SANS 1067-2. 4.3.2 Outlet connection (of a tap) The outlet connection of a tap shall be furnished with an acceptable aeration device that complies with the appropriate requirements of SANS 226. 4.4 Legal requirements The unit shall comply with the approp

29、riate and relevant national regulatory authority (see foreword). Amdt 2 4.5 Flow rate When determined in accordance with 5.2.2.5, the flow rate shall be as follows: a) for basin taps: 6 L/min 1 L/min; b) for bowl urinals: 2,0 L 0,2 L per flush; c) for toilets: 9,0 L 0,2 L per flush; and d) for showe

30、rs: 10 L/min 1 L/min. 4.6 Inadvertent activation The design of the mechanism of the unit shall be such that inadvertent operation or activation of the unit cannot take place. 4.7 Springs Springs shall be of stainless steel. The ends shall be a) ground flat and parallel to each other to within 5, or

31、b) so finished with end caps that they can be mounted in an acceptable way. SANS 1808-35:2010 Edition 1.2 6 4.8 Finish The external surface of the unit shall be coated or uncoated, as agreed upon (see annex A). When the surface is to be coated, the coating shall be a) a nickel and chrome coating tha

32、t complies with the requirements for service condition 2 of SANS 135; or b) a powder coating that complies with the requirements for type 4 coatings of SANS 135; or c) any other agreed coating that has corrosion-resistant and wear-resistant properties at least equal to those of the coating specified

33、 in (b) above. 4.9 Durability When a unit is tested in accordance with 5.2.2.6, no component part shall break or become so distorted as to render it ineffective for its normal operation, and there shall be no leakage through the body or through any mechanical joint in the body. 5 Inspection and meth

34、ods of test 5.1 Inspection Inspect each electronically operated tap and valve for compliance with those requirements of this part of SANS 1808 for which tests to assess compliance are not given in 5.2 and 5.3 (inclusive). 5.2 Performance test 5.2.1 Apparatus 5.2.1.1 Water supply, the pressure of whi

35、ch can be adjusted up to 2 000 kPa. 5.2.1.2 Calibrated pressure gauge. 5.2.1.3 Measuring tank. 5.2.1.4 Cycling device, that will allow the unit to open and close as in normal practice, at a rate of about 2 cycles per minute, one cycle consisting of one opening and one closing action. 5.2.2 Procedure

36、 5.2.2.1 Mount the unit in the cycling device and connect the water supply to the inlet of the unit, with the pressure gauge situated at the inlet. 5.2.2.2 Place the unit in the closed position and increase the water supply pressure to 600 kPa. 5.2.2.3 Start the cycling device and allow it to carry

37、out 100 000 cycles. 5.2.2.4 Stop the cycling device in the closed position, and check the seats for compliance with 4.2.1. 5.2.2.5 Open the unit, measure the rate of water flow and check for compliance with the appropriate requirement of 4.5. 38、ncrease the water pressure to 2 000 kPa, allow it to remain at this pressure for 5 min and then check for compliance with 4.9. 5.3 Test for dezincification resistance Subject copper alloy components that are intended to be in contact with water to the test given in SANS 6509 and check for compliance

39、 with 4.1.2(a). 6 Marking The following information shall appear in legible and indelible marking in a visible position on the outside of each unit: a) the manufacturers name, trade name or trade mark; and b) when relevant, the letters “DR“ (that indicate that copper alloy components are dezincifica

40、tion resistant). SANS 1808-35:2010 Edition 1.2 8 Annex A (normative) Note to purchasers The following requirements shall be agreed upon between the supplier and the purchaser: a) the size of the unit (see 4.3.1.1); b) the type of inlet connection (see 4.3.1.2); c) whether units are to be coated or u

41、ncoated (see 4.8); and d) when relevant, the type of coating (see 4.8). Amdt 1 Annex B (informative) Quality verification of electronically operated taps and valves B.1 When a purchaser requires ongoing verification of the quality of electronically operated taps and valves, it is suggested that, ins

42、tead of concentrating solely on evaluation of the final product, he also direct his attention to the manufacturers quality system. In this connection it should be noted that SANS 9001 covers the provision of an integrated quality system. B.2 If no information about the implementation of quality cont

43、rol or testing during manufacture is available to help in assessing the quality of a lot, and a purchaser wishes to establish, by inspection and testing of samples of the final product, whether a lot of the electronically operated taps and valves complies with this part of SANS 1808, an acceptable s

44、ampling plan should be agreed upon between the supplier and the purchaser. Amdt 1 It should be noted that a) such a sampling plan applies to fully manufactured electronically operated taps and valves only, and b) a lot that, in terms of the sampling plan, is deemed to comply with this part of SANS 1

45、808 could contain defective electronically operated taps and valves to an extent proportional to that permitted by the relevant acceptance number given in the agreed sampling plan.
