Preface In this part of SANS 182 tests are not classified as type, sample, or routine tests. Compliance with the requirements of this part of SANS 182 may be a
9、ssessed by means of tests carried out on a sample, the sampling procedure and the test methods being those given in this part of SANS 182. During production control the manufacturer may use whatever tests he deems necessary for ensuring compliance with this part of SANS 182, but in cases of dispute
10、only the appropriate test methods may be used. The frequency of testing required and the test to be used in the administration of the standardization mark scheme are the subject of a separate agreement between the Council of the South African Bureau of Standards and the permit holder. 15、inc-coated steel wire used for the following purposes and, where relevant, in the forms indicated: a) line-wire for telecommunication purposes; b) wires for earth conductors (stranded or single); c) suspension wires (stranded or single); d) stay wires (stranded or single); e) binding and jointing wi
16、res. NOTE 1) The titles of standards referred to by number in this part of the specification are given in appendix A. 2) Requirements that must be specified by the purchaser are listed in B.1 of appendix B and a requirement that must be agreed upon between the purchaser and the manufacturer is given
17、 in B.2. 3) Assessment of compliance with the requirement of 3.2.1 and, in the case of stranded conductors, the relevant requirements of 4.2.1, 4.2.4(b), and (when so required) 5.3.3 by measurement, requires special agreement between the supplier and the purchaser. 25、re, and stay wire, it shall be stranded or single, all as specified by the purchaser: a) line-wire for telecommunication purposes; b) earth conductors; c) suspension wire; d) stay wire; e) binding or jointing wire. SANS 182-5:2008 Edition 1.3 5 3.2 Material 3.2.1 Steel The steel from which wires are
26、 drawn shall have been made by any process in which the final stage is other than the Bessemer process. 3.2.2 Joints Welded joints are permitted in rods and wires before the final drawing of the wire (see also 4.1.3 and 4.2.4). 3.2.3 Zinc-coating The steel wires shall have been individually coated a
27、fter final drawing, and the coatings shall comply with the relevant requirements of SANS 10244-2 for class A (thick) coatings. Amdt 1; amdt 3 4 General constructional requirements 4.1 Wire 4.1.1 Freedom from defects The coated wire shall be smooth, uniform in quality, free from spills, splits, bare
28、spots, and other defects, and any departure from circularity of the cross-section shall not exceed 2 % of the mean diameter. 4.1.2 Diameter a) The diameter of a coated wire (other than a wire used for a stranded conductor), measured in accordance with 8.2, shall be within the limits given in columns
29、 2 and 3 of table B, or columns 2 and 3 of table D, or columns 2 and 3 of table F, relevant to the type and standard diameter specified by the purchaser. b) The diameter of a coated wire used for a stranded conductor, measured (before stranding) in accordance with 8.2, shall, subject to the appropri
30、ate tolerances given in table C, conform to the value given in column 2 of table E, appropriate to the reference area specified by the purchaser. 4.1.3 Joints Finished coated wire intended for use as a single wire (e.g. telecommunication line-wire or binding wire) shall contain no joint or weld. 31、S 182-5:2008 Edition 1.3 6 4.2 Stranded conductors 4.2.1 General Coated wires used in the construction of a stranded conductor shall, before stranding, comply with the relevant requirements of 4.1. Stranding shall be such that a strand complies with the appropriate electrical and physical requiremen
32、ts specified in section 5. 4.2.2 Direction of lay Successive layers of a stranded conductor shall have opposite directions of lay and, unless otherwise specified by the purchaser, the outermost layer shall have a right-hand lay. 4.2.3 Lay ratio Unless otherwise specified by the purchaser, the lay ra
33、tio shall be within the limits 12 and 18. 4.2.4 Joints in wires of a stranded conductor a) There shall be no joint in the individual wires of a stranded conductor consisting of less than seven wires. b) Joints shall be permitted in individual wires of a conductor having seven or more wires provided
34、that 1) no two such joints are less than 15 m apart; 2) the joints are made by resistance butt welding or by other acceptable means; 3) the joints are protected from corrosion by recoating with zinc; and 4) the diameter of a strand is not increased materially by the presence of a joint. 4.2.5 Freedo
35、m from defects and from foreign matter Stranded conductors shall be free from dirt, grit, and other foreign matter, and shall have no broken wires. 4.2.6 Overall diameter The overall diameter of a stranded conductor shall not exceed the appropriate maximum value given in column 3 of table E. 4.2.7 R
36、eference area and grade of stranded earth conductor Stranded earth conductors shall have a reference area of 50 mm2or 90 mm2, as specified by the purchaser, and shall consist of wires of grade 500 MPa. 4.3 Length Unless a stranded conductor or coated wire of another length is specified by the purcha
37、ser and subject to the relevant requirements of 6.1, a stranded conductor or coated wire shall be supplied in the manufacturers usual production length. The actual length of the stranded conductor or coated wire on a drum, on a reel, or in a coil shall, subject to a tolerance of %, conform to this n
38、ominal length. This requirement does not apply if the purchaser orders in terms of mass. 30+SANS 182-5:2008 Edition 1.3 7 4.4 Corrosion protection When so specified by the purchaser, coils shall be dipped in oil or other acceptable compound that will provide protection against corrosion during trans
39、it and storage. 5 Electrical and physical requirements 5.1 Mass per kilometre of line-wire The mass per kilometre of a line-wire, determined in accordance with 8.3, shall conform to the values given in table B. 5.2 Resistance When determined and adjusted to a reference temperature of 20 C in accorda
40、nce with 8.4, a) the resistance of a line-wire shall not exceed the maximum value given in table B, and b) the resistance of an earth conductor shall not exceed 4,194 /km in the case of earth conductors of reference area 50 mm2and 2,392 /km in the case of earth conductors of reference area 90 mm2. 5
41、.3 Breaking strength 5.3.1 The breaking strength of a zinc-coated wire for use as a single wire and of a zinc-coated wire before stranding, determined in accordance with 8.5.1, shall be equal to at least the value given in table B, D or F (as relevant), appropriate to the standard wire diameter and,
42、 when relevant, the grade of wire specified by the purchaser. 5.3.2 The breaking strength of a zinc-coated wire after stranding, determined in accordance with 8.5.2, shall be equal to at least 95 % of the value given in table D appropriate to the standard diameter and grade of the wire. 5.3.3 The br
43、eaking strength of a stranded conductor, determined in accordance with 8.5.3 or (when relevant) 8.5.4, shall be equal to at least the value given in table E, appropriate to the reference area of the stranded conductor and the grade of the wire. 5.4 Elongation at break (wires of grades 400-1 100 MPa)
44、 The percentage elongation at break of a zinc-coated wire for use as a single wire and of a zinc-coated wire before stranding, determined in accordance with 8.6.1, shall be at least equal to the value given in column 2 of table A appropriate to the grade of the wire. 5.5 Ductility when lapped The du
45、ctility of a zinc-coated wire shall be such that, when the wire is tested in accordance with 8.7, the base metal shall not break or show any sign of cracking. 5.6 Ductility when twisted (wire of grade 1 400 MPa) When a zinc-coated wire of grade 1 400 MPa is tested in accordance with 8.8, it shall wi
46、thstand, without breaking, at least 23 twists in a gauge length of 100 times the standard diameter of the wire (or pro rata on a longer or shorter test length). SANS 182-5:2008 Edition 1.3 8 6 Packing and marking 6.1 Packing 6.1.1 In addition to any special packing requirements specified by the purc
47、haser, the material shall be packed as follows: a) Continuity. Unless otherwise acceptable, each continuous length of wire or stranded conductor shall be packed individually. b) Line-wire for telecommunication purposes. Line-wire for telecommunication purposes shall be packed in coils of inside diam
48、eter 480 - 530 mm and of mass 45 - 55 kg. The coils shall be securely bound with binders that have no deleterious or corrosive effect on the wire. c) Binding and jointing wires. Binding and jointing wires shall be packed in coils of inside diameter 230 - 255 mm that are securely bound with an accept
49、able string or with zinc-coated binding wire or with any other binder that has no deleterious or corrosive effect on the wire. Unless otherwise specified by the purchaser, the mass of each coil shall be between 5 kg and 20 kg. d) Earth conductors, suspension wire, and stay wire 1) Single wire. Earth conductors, suspension wire, and stay wire in the form of a single wire shall be packed in coils or on reels, as specified by the purchaser. 2) Stranded conductor. Unless otherwise specified by the purchaser, a stranded conductor shall be packed on a robust wooden drum or wooden
