SANS 1887-1:2008, Tissue paper Part 1: General requirements. 3 Definitions For the purpose of this part of 1887-9, the definitions given in SANS 1887-1 and the following apply. 3.1 chemically processed pulp pulp consisting of sulphite- or sulphate wood fibres (or a mixture of s
、uch fibres), and that does not contain more than a mass fraction of 5 % of mechanical wood pulp 3.2 test set group of fifteen wrappers taken consecutively from a position approximately 15 mm from the top or bottom of a bundle 4 Requirements 4.1 Material 4.1.1 Paper 4.1.1.1 The paper shall comply wit

SANS 1887-9:2008 Edition 1 4 4.1.1.2 If the paper has been chemically treated by the addition of oil or other material (see 4.3 and 4.4), the chemical substance shall have been incorporated in an acceptable manner that minimizes the possibilit

、leum wax content 4.3.1 When petroleum wax-impregnated wrappers are required by the purchaser (see annex A), both the petroleum wax used and the wax content of the wrappers (determined in accordance with 5.4) shall be as specified by the purchaser (see annex A). 4.3.2 The wax shall be non-toxic, colo
、urless, odourless, and tasteless and shall not adversely affect the flavour or texture of the fruit. 4.3.3 Unless impregnation to a specific pattern is specified by the purchaser (see annex A), the impregnation shall be uniform over the entire surface of each wrapper. 4.4 Fungicide content 4.4.1 Whe
、n fungicide-impregnated wrappers are required by the purchaser (see annex A), both the fungicide used and the fungicide content of the wrappers (determined in accordance with 5.5) shall be as specified by the purchaser (see annex A). 21、all be such that the wrappers neither stain nor adversely affect the fruit. 5 Inspection and methods of test 5.1 Conditioning Use the method given in SANS 1887-1. 5.2 Inspection 5.2.1 Test specimens Take at random one wrapper from each test set taken in accordance with B.1 (see annex B). 5.2.2 Proce
、dure Determine the dimensions of each specimen and examine it for compliance with the appropriate requirements of clause 4 and clause 5. 5.3 Basis weight (grammage) 5.3.1 Test specimens Take at random from the test sample taken in accordance with B.1 enough wrappers to give a total area of at least
、0,5 m. Do not take more that one wrapper from any test set unless it is necessary to do so to make up the required area. 5.3.2 Procedure Use the method given in SANS 1887-1. In the case of chemically treated wrappers, subtract the mass, as determined in 5.4 and 5.7 (as relevant), of the impregnant(s
、). Express the basis weight in grams per square metre to three significant figures. 5.4 Petroleum wax content of wax-impregnated wrappers Use the method given in SANS 1887-1. 5.5 Fungicide content Use an acceptable method. 25、the test sets taken in accordance with B.1 take at random fifteen wrappers and form them into five composite specimens, each consisting of three wrappers, ensuring that the edges of wrappers in each specimen are in alignment. 5.6.2 Procedure Use the method given in SANS 1887-1. 5.7 Tensile propertie
、s, dry 5.7.1 Test specimen From each of at least ten test sets taken in accordance with B.1, take at random one wrapper. 5.7.2 Apparatus Use the apparatus given in SANS 1887-1. 5.7.3 Procedure 5.7.3.1 From each of these wrappers cut two specimens of length (if possible) 200 mm and of width precisely
、 15 mm, one specimen being cut parallel to the machine direction and the other parallel to the cross direction of the paper. Do not cut specimens from damaged areas or areas containing creases. 5.7.3.2 With the jaws of the instrument (see 5.7.2) 180 mm 10 mm apart, clamp a specimen securely in posit
、ion. If the specimen is too short, decrease the distance between the jaws to the maximum distance that can be used without the specimen slipping in the jaws. Apply the load at such a rate that the specimen breaks within 20 s 5 s. 5.7.3.3 Repeat the above procedure with each of the other specimens. 5
、.7.3.4 Record, to the nearest 0,1 N, the tensile strengths of each specimen, in newtons per metre. Report the maximum, minimum, and average results in the machine direction and the cross direction separately, and the nominal distance between the jaws at the start of each test. NOTE For quality verif
、ication of wrapper for citrus and deciduous fruit, refer to annex C. 6 Packing The wrappers shall be supplied in bundles each containing five thousand wrappers, and the bundles shall be packed in acceptable packages. Wrappers impregnated with a fungicide shall be adequately protected against loss of
、 fungicide due to evaporation. Only wrappers of the same nominal size, chemical treatment, colour, and printing shall be packed together in a bundle and in a package. SANS 1887-9:2008 Edition 1 7 7 Marking The following information shall appear in legible and indelible marking on each package: a) th
、e manufacturers name, trade name, or trademark; b) grammage of the wrappers; c) size of the wrappers; d) colour of the wrappers; e) printing on the wrappers; f) when relevant, nature of printing on wrappers; g) number of wrappers in the package; h) a batch identification; and i) any additional infor
、mation required by the purchaser (see annex A). SANS 1887-9:2008 Edition 1 8 Annex A (normative) Notes to Purchasers The following requirements shall be specified in tender invitations and in each order or contract: a) the size(s) (see 4.2); b) whether wax-impregnated wrappers are required (see 4.3.
、1); c) when relevant, the wax to be used and the limits for the wax content (see 4.3.1); d) when relevant, the impregnation pattern (see 4.3.3 and 4.4.2); e) whether fungicide-impregnated wrappers are required (see 4.4); f) when relevant, the fungicide to be used and the limits for the fungicide con
、tent on the wrappers (see 4.4.1); g) the colour of the wrappers and any printing (see 4.5); and h) additional marking, if required (see 7(i). Annex B (normative) Sampling and compliance with this part of SANS 1887 NOTE This annex applies to the sampling for inspection and testing before acceptance o
、r rejection of single lots (consignments) in cases where no information about the implementation of quality control or testing during manufacture is available to help in assessing the quality of the lot. It is also used as the procedure for adjudicating in cases of dispute. B.1 Sampling B.1.1 The fo
、llowing sampling procedure shall be applied in determining whether a lot complies with the appropriate requirements of this part of SANS 1887. The samples so taken shall be deemed to represent the lot. B.1.2 After inspecting for compliance with the requirements of clause 6 and clause 7, take from th
、e lot (when relevant, at random) twenty bundles of wrappers and from each bundle draw a test set of wrappers. Keep the wrappers flat and free from wrinkles and folds. In the case of chemically treated wrappers, ensure that each test set is taken immediately after the bundle is unwrapped, and place t
、he test sets without delay in individual air-tight containers. SANS 1887-9:2008 Edition 1 9 B.2 Compliance with this part of SANS 1887 The lot shall be deemed to comply with the requirements of this part of SANS 1887 if, on inspection and testing (see clause 5) of the sample taken in accordance with
、 B.1, for compliance with the requirements of clauses 4, 6 and 7, no defective is found. Annex C (informative) Quality verification of wrappers for citrus and deciduous fruit When a purchaser requires ongoing verification of wrappers for citrus and deciduous fruit, it is suggested that, instead of c
、oncentrating solely on evaluation of the final product, he also direct his attention to the manufacturers quality system. In this connection it should be noted that SANS 9001 covers the provision for an integrated quality system. Bibliography SANS 9001/ISO 9001, Quality management systems Requirements. SABS
