9、 update the contents in accordance with the latest capabilities of the industry. At the same time, the contents were extended to include requirements for coated boards. The test methods were removed from the original standard and have now been published as separate standards. To ensure more reliable
10、 test results, standard cutting plans were developed and are included in the test standards. 23、ties concluding the purchase contract, as relevant Amdt 1 3.2 fibreboard board a board produced from fibred ligno-cellulose material with or without the use of bonding agents 3.3 MDF fibreboard of density in the range 550 kg/m 3to 940 kg/m 3and manufactured by a wet or dry process from ligno-cellulo
24、se fibres with or without a resin binder 3.4 sanded board a board that has a sanded face or screen (or both) 4 Requirements 4.1 General requirements 4.1.1 Type Fibreboard shall be of one of the following types (see also tables 1 to 3), as required: a) insulation board: fibreboard of density not exce
25、eding 400 kg/m 3 ; b) MDF: 1) low density MDF: MDF of density in the range 550 kg/m 3to 620 kg/m 3 ; 2) medium density MDF: MDF of density in the range 621 kg/m 3to 780 kg/m 3 ; 3) high density MDF: MDF of density in the range 781 kg/m 3to 940 kg/m 3 ; This standard may only be used and printed by a

27、ing 940 kg/m 3 ; e) standard mediumboard: fibreboard of density in the range 800 kg/m 3to 940 kg/m 3 ; f) tempered hardboard: standard hardboard that has been specially treated (during the manufacturing process) in order to improve its mechanical properties; g) tempered mediumboard: standard mediumb
28、oard that has been specially treated (during the manufacturing process) in order to improve its mechanical properties; or h) weatherboard: fibreboard of density exceeding 800 kg/m 3and mainly used as cladding in exterior conditions. 4.1.2 Appearance The face of a board shall be of acceptable appeara
29、nce. 4.1.3 Dimensions When measured in accordance with 6.2, the dimensions of a board (other than motorboard) shall conform to the values given in table 1. (See annex C for industry preferred dimensions of various types of fibreboard.) 4.1.4 Squareness When determined in accordance with 6.3, the dif
30、ference in length of diagonals of a board shall not exceed 1,5 mm/m. 4.1.5 Straightness of edges and ends When determined in accordance with 6.4, the maximum deviation from absolute straightness of the edges and ends of a board shall not exceed 1 mm per 1 200 mm of length. 4.1.6 Flatness When determ
31、ined in accordance with 6.14, the deviation from absolute flatness at any position in a board shall not exceed 5 mm/m in the case of boards of nominal thickness less than 25 mm, and 3 mm/m in other cases. 4.1.7 Defects not allowed The following defects are not permitted: a) foreign matter: boards sh
32、all be free from foreign matter since it may cause damage to tools or adversely affect the properties of the boards; b) delamination: boards shall be free from any visible sign of delamination; c) mechanical damage: boards shall be free from any mechanical damage that may affect the dimensions, the
33、appearance or the strength (or any combination of these three) of a board. 37、en in column 11 of table 2, fibreboard (other than MDF) shall comply with the relevant requirements given in columns 3 to 10. 4.2.2 Requirements for MDF When tested in accordance with the appropriate test method given in column 4 of table 3, MDF shall comply with the appropriate requirements given i

46、h, N, min. on a face on an edge 12 12 1 100 900 6.13 5 Packing and marking 5.1 Packing Uncoated fibreboard shall be so packed that it is protected against damage during normal transportation, storage and handling. 5.2 Marking Each board shall bear at least the following information in legible and in
47、delible marking on the board or on a label securely fixed to each board: a) the manufacturers name, trade name or trademark; b) the nominal dimensions; c) the type of board; d) the date of manufacture. NOTE Where boards are to be delivered in crates, only the crate itself need be appropriately marke
48、d with the information required above. 6 Inspection and methods of test 6.1 Inspection Visually inspect each board in the sample for compliance with those requirements of this part of SANS 540 for which tests to assess compliance are not given in 6.2 to 6.14 (inclusive). To measure the length and width of a board, use a calibrated steel tape or rule of length at least 6 m and calibrated in millimetres. Check for compliance with 4.1.3. 6.3 Squareness Use SANS 5817. Check for compliance with 4.1.4. 6.4 Straightness of edges and ends Use SANS 5970. Check for compliance with 4.1.5. 6.5
