The object of the IEC is to promoteinternational co-operation on all questions concerning standardization in the electrical and electronic fields. Tothis end and in addition to other activities, the IEC publishes Int

International, governmental and non-governmental organizations liaisingwith the IEC also participate in this preparati

The IEC collaborates closely with the International Organizationfor Standardization (ISO) in accordance with conditions determined by agreement between the twoorganizations.2) The formal decisions or agreements of the IEC on technical matters express, as nearly as possible, aninternational conse

Anydivergence between the IEC Standard and the c

They are intended for single-phase circuits for rated currents notexceeding 16 A for rated voltages not exceeding 250 V a.c., or for rated current not exceeding32 A for rated voltages not exceeding 130 V a.c. to earth. They are intended to provi

Their connecting means maybe plugs, socket-outlets, terminals or cords.NOTE 1 The requirements for PRCDs are in lin

They may besubmitted for certification purposes.NOTE 2 The RCD part of the PRCD is not intended to provide isolation which may be provided by the

Such devices are notcovered by this standard. The requirements of this standard apply for environment

It may, however, be used as a guide forsuch devices which are intended to be used only with Class II appliances. The present standard does not apply to PRCDs providing the additional function of detectingfaults on the supply side and avoiding the closing of
