9、rements for the following types of machine-finished boxboard: Type 1: White-lined board Type 2: White machine-coated board Type 3. Manilla-lined board (folding and semi-folding) Type 4: Kraft-lined board Type 5: Chipboard (lined and unlined) Type 6: Rigid-board (lined and unlined) NOTE Requirements

10、that must be specified by the purchaser and a requirement that must be agreed upon between supplier and purchaser are listed in appendix A. 2 Definitions For the purposes of this specification the following definitions shall apply: boxboard board paperboard that is intended for use in the manufactur

11、e of boxes and cartons (rigid and folding) chipboard board made from any mixed waste paper or any other fibrous material or both cross direction CD direction of a board at right angles to the machine direction defective unit or a test unit that fails in one or more respects to comply with the releva

12、nt requirements of the specification kraft-lined board machine-lined board in which the furnish of the top liner (or of both liners) contains a proportion of virgin kraft fibre or of used kraft fibre or both SANS 733:2008 Edition 2.1 4 lot quantity of board of the same type and size, packed in the s

16、 machine-coated board white-lined board, clay-coated on the board machine during the process of manufacture to improve the surface finish of the board 3 General requirements 3.1 General The board shall be reasonably free from hairs, spots, dust and fluff. 3.2 Dimensions 3.2.1 Boxboard in reels The w

17、idth of boxboard supplied in reels shall be at least 50 mm and shall be as specified by the purchaser, subject to the appropriate of the following tolerances: a) if 0,5 % of the specified width is not less than 3 mm and not greater than 6 mm: 0,5 % of the specified width; b) if 0,5 % of the specifie

18、d width is less than 3 mm: 3 mm; c) if 0,5 % of the specified width is greater than 6 mm: 6 mm. SANS 733:2008 Edition 2.1 5 3.2.2 Sheets 3.2.2.1 Length and width The purchaser shall specify the length and width (which shall be at least 50 mm) of sheets of boxboard and whether they shall be guillotin

19、e-trimmed, subject to the appropriate of the following tolerances: a) Guillotine-trimmed sheets: 2 mm (on both length and width). b) Other sheets: The tolerances given for the width of reels in 3.2.1 shall apply to both the length and the width of the sheets. 3.2.2.2 Squareness Any out-of-squareness

20、, determined in accordance with 7.3.2(b), shall not exceed 0,5 %. 3.3 Calliper and basis mass 3.3.1 General The calliper shall be within the relevant limits given in section 4 and, subject to the appropriate tolerances given in 3.3.2, either a) the calliper shall be as specified by the purchaser and

21、 the basis mass as agreed upon between supplier and purchaser; or b) the basis mass shall be as specified by the purchaser and the calliper as agreed upon between supplier and purchaser. 3.3.2 Tolerances a) When the calliper is specified by the purchaser, 1) the average calliper, determined in accor

22、dance with 7.4, shall not differ from the specified value by more than 5 % or 0,03 mm, whichever is greater; and 2) the average basis mass, determined in accordance with 7.5, shall be within 7,5 % of the agreed value. b) When the basis mass is specified by the purchaser, 1) the average basis mass, d

23、etermined in accordance with 7.5, shall be within 5 % of the specified value; and 2) the average calliper, determined in accordance with 7.4, shall not differ from the agreed value by more than 7,5 % or 0,03 mm, whichever is greater. 4 Specific requirements 4.1 White-lined board White-lined board sh

24、all be one of the following, as specified by the purchaser: a) double white-lined, SANS 733:2008 Edition 2.1 6 b) white-lined and manilla-backed, c) white-lined and grey-backed, d) white-lined and backed as specified by the purchaser, and shall comply with the requirements given in table 1. 36、1 150 4.6 Rigid-board Rigid-board shall be one of the following, as specified by the purchaser: a) unlined, b) single blue-lined, c) double blue-lined, SANS 733:2008 Edition 2.1 10 d) single grey-lined, e) double grey-lined, f) lined as specified by the purchaser, and its average stiffness (in each

37、direction) shall conform to the appropriate minima given in table 6. 38、 including 1,12 83 27 1,13 up to and including 1,24 113 37 1,25 and over 149 58 5 Packing and marking 5.1 Packing 5.1.1 Sheets Unless otherwise specified by the purchaser, sheets shall be packed in accordance with commercial practice on acceptable pallets or in acceptable bundles. Only sheets of the

39、 same type of boxboard, size, and identification reference shall be packed together on a pallet or in a bundle. 5.1.2 Reels Reels shall be wrapped or unwrapped, according to commercial practice. 5.2 Marking 5.2.1 Sheets The following information shall appear legibly and indelibly on a label pasted o

40、n or tied to each bundle or inserted (in a readily-visible position) between sheets on pallets1): a) manufacturers name, or trade name, or trademark; b) a description of the board; c) nominal calliper; d) size of sheets; 1)Purchasers are advised to ensure that sheets of board from each pallet are st

41、acked apart from sheets of other pallets and that each stack bears the identification markings carried by the label attached to the pallet from which the sheets were taken. 42、ers identification reference. 5.2.2 Reels The following information shall appear in clear and indelible marking on one end of each reel: a) manufacturers name, or trade name, or trademark; b) a description of the board; c) nominal calliper; d) width of board; e) mass of reel; f) manufacturers identi

43、fication reference. 6 Sampling and compliance with the specification2)6.1 Sampling The following sampling procedure shall be applied in determining whether a lot complies with the relevant requirements of the specification. The samples so drawn shall be deemed to represent the lot. 6.1.1 First sampl

44、e a) Boxboard of width greater than 600 mm From the lot draw at random 5 units or all the units, whichever is less, and after inspecting (see 7.2) each unit so drawn, take from it a test unit as follows: 1) Reels. After removing any damaged layers of board from the outside of the reel and measuring

45、the width of the boxboard (see 7.3.1), discard at least three undamaged layers, and cut a test unit from across the full width of the reel. 2) Pallets and bundles. Take a test unit, comprising at least two consecutive sheets, from the pallet or bundle. If possible, do not take the unit from the shee

46、ts in the first 15 mm of thickness of undamaged layers at the top or bottom of the pallet or bundle. b) Boxboard of width not exceeding 600 mm From the lot draw at random 7 units. Discard all damaged layers from each unit so drawn and then take from it a test unit. 2)This section applies to the samp

47、ling for inspection and testing before acceptance or rejection of single lots (consignments) in cases where no information about the implementation of quality control or testing during manufacture is available to help in assessing the quality of the lot. It is also used as the procedure for adjudica

48、ting in cases of dispute. SANS 733:2008 Edition 2.1 12 6.1.2 Second sample a) Boxboard of width greater than 600 mm If the lot consists of more than 15 units and if after inspection and testing of the first sample (see 6.1.1) only one defective is found, draw a further sample of 10 units and from ea

49、ch unit so drawn take a test unit in the manner described in 6.1.1(a). b) Boxboard of width not exceeding 600 mm If the lot consists of more than 50 units and if after inspection and testing of the first sample (see 6.1.1) two defectives are found, draw a further sample of 14 test units in the manner described in 6.1.1(b). 6.2 Compliance with the specification The lot shall be deemed to comply with the relevant requirements of the specification if a) in the case of boxboard of width greater than 600 mm 1) in the sample from a lot containing 15 or fewer units, no
