Amdt 1 3.1.5 Epoxy powder coatings Epoxy powder coatings shall be based on a compounded epoxy-resin that is suitable for application by a fluidized-bed process or an aerostatic spray process. 3.2 Welded joints The parts of all joints shall be c
、lose fitting. Where the open end of one tube is joined to the side of another tube, the profile of the open end shall match the profile of the side to which it is joined. The welds shall be fusion welds or braze welds and shall be acceptable. Weld faces shall be smooth and clean, free from porosity,
、 cavities, and trapped slag. The weld faces shall merge smoothly into the surface of the parent metal without overlap or undue under-cut. The weld metal, heat affected zone, and adjacent parent metal shall be free from cracks. Where welding is done from one side only, there shall be full penetration
、 of the joint. The welds and the adjacent parent metal shall be smooth and free from flux, slag, and spatter before the finish is applied. 3.3 Design and dimensions The general design and overall dimensions shall be as shown in figure 1. 3.4 Frame The components of the frame shall be of mild steel o
、r of stainless steel, as specified by the purchaser. The main frame diagonal braces and cross brace shall be of steel tubes of nominal outside diameter 25 mm and nominal wall thickness 1,60 mm. The main frame shall be one continuous length of tube bent to form the handle-bar and sides or shall consi

It shall have two diagonal braces welded to the sides to support the base plate and to provide the socket or two swivel castors (see figure 1). A cross brace shall be welded to the diagonal braces near the castor socket ends, as shown
、in figure 1. The tubes shall be free from wrinkles, and any flattening or reduction in diameter shall not exceed 4 % of the actual outside diameter of the tube. 3.5 Base plate The base plate shall be of mild steel or stainless steel (as relevant) of nominal thickness at least 6 mm attached to the bo
、ttoms of the main frame and diagonal braces by fillet welds extending around the full circumference of the tubes (see figure 1). The trolley shall, when unloaded, be able to stand on its base plate on a level surface without tipping over. SANS 895:2008 Edition 2.1 5 3.6 Cylinder cradle The cylinder
、shall be held in position on the trolley by two cradle brackets (of tube of nominal outside diameter 20 mm) that are provided with tight-fitting, steel cover straps. The cover straps shall be so pivoted at one end that they can be swung out of the way during loading and unloading. The cover straps s

、m, or a steel rod of nominal diameter 10 mm, shall be welded to the main frame, in the position indicated in figure 1, to serve as a rail to which a flowmeter can be clamped. 3.8 Wheel axles The wheel axle shall be of 20 mm diameter steel rod and shall be welded to the main frame in a position such
、that the wheels are lifted off the floor to a height of at least 5 mm when the trolley rests on the base plate. 3.9 Wheels and castors The trolley shall be fitted with two 150 mm diameter by 40 mm wide hard-rubber-tyred wheels with ball or roller bearings and two 75 mm diameter swivel castors comply
、ing with the requirements of SANS 621. 3.10 Water bottle cradle If so specified by the purchaser, a cradle of 5 mm diameter mild steel rod shall be fitted or welded to the frame to hold a water bottle of capacity 1 L. 3.11 Finish 3.11.1 General All surfaces shall be smooth and free from sharp edges,
、 buckles, dents, pits, deep scratches, crimp, and other defects. Mild steel surfaces shall have a smooth enamel finish or a powder coating finish of the colour specified by the purchaser. Stainless steel surfaces shall have a medium directional satin finish or a bright polished finish not inferior t

When tested in accordance with 6.2.2, the thickness of the enamel film shall be at least 30 m and if a primer is used the thickness of the system shall be at least 6
、0 m. b) Scratch resistance. The enamel film shall so withstand scratching with a 1 mm diameter hardened steel ball point under a load of 2 000 g, drawn across it at a constant speed of 30 mm per second, that, when examined under a lens giving seven magnifications, the scratch shows no jagged edges o
