1、1 ScopeThis standard specifies the dimensions and locationof the cartridge aperture, pressure pad, and charac-teristics essential to the appropriate flatness of thecartridge pressure pad. Also specified are the posi-tion of the 8-mm type S motion-picture film and itsrequired clearances in the cartri

2、dge aperture.2 Normative referenceThe following standard contains provisions which,through reference in this text, constitute provisions ofthis standard. At the time of publication, the editionindicated was valid. All standards are subject torevision, and parties to agreements based on thisstandard

3、are encouraged to investigate the possibilityof applying the most recent edition of the standardindicated below.SMPTE 159.1-2001, Motion-Picture Film (8-mm Type S) Model 1 Camera Cartridge Cartridge-CameraInterface and Take-Up Core Drive3 Dimensions3.1 The dimensions shown in figure 2 and table2 sha

4、ll apply to an assembled cartridge with afilm load at the time of manufacture. The dimen-sions shown in figures 1 and 3 and tables 1 and3 shall apply to a cartridge that is fully assem-bled, but does not contain film.3.2 The datum planes and datum features used fordimensioning shall be as defined in

5、 3.3, 3.3.1,3.4, 3.4.1, and 3.4.2 of SMPTE 159.1.3.3 Dimensions T and U denote the lateral loca-tion of the film in the cartridge before insertion inthe camera. After insertion, dimension T be-comes 0.060 in (1.52 mm) minimum and dimen-sion U becomes 0.050 in (1.27 mm) minimum.3.4 All dimensions in

6、table 1, except dimensionsA and C, apply at the front surface of the pres-sure pad. A draft of 5 to the recess area shallbe permitted as well as an inside or outsideradius of 0.005 in (0.13 mm) at all corners toprovide satisfactory mold release.3.5 Dimension A denotes the maximum penetra-tion, from

7、datum plane C, of the camera filmalignment guide wings or the camera claw intothe recessed area of the cartridge pressure pad.3.6 Dimension B is measured from datum planeC and is the operating position of the cartridgepressure pad.3.7 Dimensions relative to the surface of thepressure pad are measure

8、d from a plane estab-lished through surfaces 1, 2, and 3, as definedby 0.060-in (1.52-mm) diameter circles dimen-sionally centered (see figure 3). The actual cam-era aperture bosses may deviate from thisshape.3.8 Dimension G2specifies the clearance forfilm in the camera aperture area based on T2,the

16、ension Q.3.11 Dimension H2is intended to apply from aplane as described by 3.7.3.12 The plus values given for the pressure padfilm surface flatness tolerances shall be directedtoward the lens (see table 4 and note 2).3.13 Surface 4 of the cartridge pressure pad andboss 4 of the camera aperture are d

17、elineated toaid in seating the cartridge pressure pad to thecamera aperture plate. They serve no functionwhen the pressure pad is in operating position(see note 3).NOTES1 It is considered good practice to relieve the cameraaperture plate above and below the picture area to allow aclearance for film

18、transport and minimize the possibility offilm pinching. Dimension F2specifies the amount of recessfor this purpose.2 It is intended that the film surface of the cartridge pressurepad be flat, or molded as a flat plane. Pits or depressions,however, which do not interfere with the film flatness areacc

19、eptable. Tolerances for the flatness on the 8-mm type Scartridge pressure pad film surface are specified to ac-count for slight warpage in molding if the pressure pad ismade from a plastic material (see annex A.3).3 Three lugs, Nos. 1, 2, and 3, on the pressure pad areintended to touch the camera ap

20、erture plate and therebyestablish both the film plane alignment and the clearanceallowed for film thickness. Lug 4 should not touch thecamera aperture plate.Annex A (informative)Additional dataA.1 A force of 8 oz to 14 oz (2.2 N to 3.9 N) must be exertedon the pressure pad for proper seating against

21、 the cameraaperture plate.A.2 The two cut-out areas in the pressure pad permit theuse of fingers for side-guiding. A force of 1.5 oz to 2.5 oz(0.42 N to 0.70 N) per finger is adequate to ensure picturesteadiness if proper take-up torque is applied to thecartridge.A.3 Although sufficient recess from

22、the front surface of thepressure pad to allow for camera claw and camera apertureguide finger penetration, as defined by dimension C and 3.5,must be provided, additional portions of the pad surface maybe recessed also. 24、nally coincide with datumplane A.A.5 To provide a consistent method of measurement, it isrecommended that a cartridge gauging fixture be usedwhich incorporates datum surfaces, a locating pin, andmeans for exerting locating forces on appropriate surfacesof the cartridge. For pressure pad measurements
