、 The network equipment providing data connectivity between a packet 1 switched data network (typically the Internet) and the access terminals. An 2 access network is equivalent to a base station in cdma2000 systems. 3 Access Terminal (AT) A device providing data connectivity to a user. An access ter

、minal may be 4 connected to a computing device such as a laptop personal computer or it 5 may be a self-contained data device such as a personal digital assistant. An 6 access terminal is equivalent to a mobile station in cdma2000 systems. 7 AN-AAA An entity that performs terminal authentication and

、 authorization functions 8 for the AN. 9 Connection A connection is a particular state of the air-link in which the AT is assigned a 10 Forward Traffic Channel, a Reverse Traffic Channel and associated Medium 11 Access Control (MAC) Channels. During a single HRPD session the AT and 12 the AN can ope

、n and can close a connection multiple times. 13 Hybrid MS/AT A device capable of operating on both cdma2000 and HRPD ANs. 14 Service Stream The HRPD stream used when exchanging data between the AT and the 15 PDSN. 16 HRPD session An HRPD session refers to a shared state between the AT and the AN. Th

、is 17 shared state stores the protocols and protocol configurations that were 18 negotiated and are used for communications between the AT and the AN. 19 Other than to open a session, an AT cannot communicate with an AN 20 without having an open session. Note that it is possible that the A10/A11 21

、connection is not established even though the HRPD session is established. 22 Refer to 10, section 1.9. 23 PCF The PCF definition is provided in 11. In addition, the PCF for this 24 specification logically contains the SC/MM function. This additional 25 functionality is HRPD specific and does not ap

、ply to any operations and 26 procedures as specified in 11. Refer to the definition of SC/MM function. 27 Packet Data Session An instance of use of packet data service by a mobile user. A packet data 28 session begins when the user invokes packet data service. A packet data 29 session ends when the

、user or the network terminates packet data service. 30 During a particular packet data session, the user may change locations but the 31 same IP address is maintained. Refer to 11, section 1.6.2. 32 SC/MM function: SC/MM (Session Control and Mobility Management) is logically located in 33 the PCF an

、d includes the following functions: 34 Storage of HRPD session related information: This function keeps 35 HRPD session related information (e.g., Keep Alive timer, MNID, mapp-36 ing between MNID and UATI, etc.) for dormant ATs. 37 Assignment of UATI (Unicast AT identifier): This function assigns a

、38 new UATI to an AT. 39 Terminal Authentication: This function performs the terminal authent-40 ication procedure. This function judges whether an AT should be auth-41 enticated or not when the AT is accessing the HRPD RAN. The SC/MM 42 performs PPP procedures for terminal authentication. 43 Mobili

、ty Management: This function manages the location of an AT. 44 The location information of the AT is obtained via distance-based 45 registration. This function may perform paging procedures based on 46 location information. 47 Terminal Authentication: A procedure in which the AT is authenticated by

For A8 descriptions, refer to section 2.1. A8 interface changes 4 required for HRPD are provided in Annex A. 5 A9 The A9 interface carries s

、ignaling information between the AN and the PCF. For A9 6 descriptions, refer to section 2.1. A9 interface changes required for HRPD are provided in 7 Annex A. 8 A10 The A10 interface carries user traffic between the PCF and the PDSN. For A10 descript-9 ions, refer to section 2.2. 41、ges required for HRPD are provided in 10 Annex B. 11 A11 The A11 interface carries signaling information between the PCF and the PDSN. For A11 12 descriptions, refer to section 2.2. A11 interface changes required for HRPD are provided 13 in Annex B. 14 A12 The A12 interface carries signaling informa

、tion related to terminal authentication 15 between the SC/MM function in the PCF and the AN-AAA (Authentication, Authorizat-16 ion and Accounting entity). For a description of the A12 interface, refer to section 2.3. 17 A13 The A13 interface carries signaling information between the SC/MM function i

、n the 18 source PCF and the SC/MM function in the target PCF. For a description of the A13 19 interface, refer to section 2.4. 20 A14 The A14 interface carries signaling information between the SC/MM function in the PCF 21 and the AN. For a description of the A14 interface, refer to section 2.5. 22

、A15 The A15 interface carries signaling information between ANs when inter-AN paging is 23 used. For a description of the A15 interface, refer to section 2.6. 24 Ax The Ax interface carries user traffic between the SC/MM function in the PCF and the 25 AN. For a description of the Ax interface, refer

、ds 8 The HRPD IOS interface, as defined in this specification, is compatible with TIA-2001-A, with the 9 provision that the HRPD capabilities are the same as those supported by the interoperability specification, 10 for the access network(s) in use. This standard does not assume support for TIA-2001-A features. For 11 example, when inter-operating with a TIA/EIA/IS-2001 system, the portions of TIA-2001-A r
