Documents superseded This provides an Addendum

、to the ANSI/TIA-568-C.2 standard dated August 11, 2009 to specify the use of an alternative patch cord test head when characterizing category 6A patch cords. Since the original publication of ANSI/EIA/TIA-568-C.2 in August of 2009 international standards such as ISO/IEC 61935-2 require the use of a

、different performance of connector for measurement of category 6A cords compared to ANSI/TIA-568-C.2. This creates practical differences in field and laboratory measurements of category 6A cords. This document presents a refinement to ANSI/TIA-568-C.2 which allows convenient measurement of category

、6A cords to both TIA and international standards. This Addendum incorporates and refines the technical content of: - ANSI/TIA-568-C.2 Significant technical changes from ANSI/TIA-568-C.2 Incorporation of an alternative patch cord test head for category 6A cords Instructions on how to calculate limit

、lines for category 6A cords according to ANSI/TIA-568-C.2 when using the alternative test heads. Annexes Annex A is informative and is not considered a requirement of this Addendum. ANSI/TIA-568-C.2-2 iii Introduction This Addendum provides requirements for an alternative category 6A patch cord test

、 head. TIA category 6A jacks and ISO/IEC category 6A jacks used for measurement of patch cords have slightly differing requirements. These cause negligible difference to measured patch cord results, however they create a situation where it is difficult and impractical to make a patch cord test head

、that is both TIA and ISO/IEC compliant. This causes practical difficulties in both laboratory and field measurements of cords. Purpose This Addendum provides requirements for an alternative category 6A patch cord test head, and guidelines for calculation of category 6A patch cord requirements when u

、sing these test heads. Specification of criteria Two categories of criteria are specified; mandatory and advisory. The mandatory requirements are designated by the word “shall“; advisory requirements are designated by the words “should”, “may“, or “desirable“ which are used interchangeably in this A

、ddendum. Mandatory criteria generally apply to protection, performance, administration and compatibility; they specify the absolute minimum acceptable requirements. Advisory or desirable criteria are presented when their attainment will enhance the general performance of the cabling system in all it

、s contemplated applications. A note in the text, table, or figure is used for emphasis or offering informative suggestions. Metric equivalents of US customary units The majority of the metric dimensions in this Addendum are metric with approximate conversions to US customary units; e.g., 4 inches (i

、n) is the approximate conversion of 100 millimeters (mm). Life of the Addendum This Addendum is a living document. The criteria contained in this Addendum are subject to revisions and updating as warranted by advances in building construction techniques and telecommunications technology.ANSI/TIA-568

、-C.2-2 ANSI/TIA-568-C.2-2 1 1 SCOPE This Addendum specifies requirements for an alternative category 6A patch cord test head and provides guidelines for how to calculate requirements for category 6A cords when this patch cord test head is used. This Addendum is only applicable to category 6A patch c

、A patch cord according to ANSI/TIA-568-C.2 it is permitted to use test heads according to the requirements of 4.1. When using test heads according to clause 4.1 the category 6A patch cord NEXT requirements shall be according to clause 4.2. 4.1 Alternative test head NEXT loss requirements Mated modul

、ar cord test head NEXT loss shall be measured for all pair combinations in accordance with ANSI/TIA-568-C.2 clause C.4.4. For all frequencies from 10 MHz to 500 MHz, modular test head NEXT loss performance shall meet the connecting hardware NEXT loss requirements specified in table 1. Table 1 - Alte

、fied by the following procedure. 1. Measure the mated NEXT loss throughout the frequency range from 10 to 500 MHz for the low and high virtual test plugs per the procedures in clause ANSI/TIA-568-C.2 clause C.4.4. 2. Determine the minimum margin (dB) to the NEXT loss requirements as specified in tab

When the alternative test head is used, t

、he NEXT loss requirement for category 6A cords shall be calculated according to ANSI/TIA-568-C.2 clause 6.9.2 equation 28, and the values provided by table 1 shall be used for term NEXTconn_spec in ANSI/TIA-568-C.2 clause 6.9.2 equation 29. The work area, equipment, and patch cord minimum NEXT loss values in table 3 are provided for information only.
