、ption 2 This document specifies procedures for Radio Link Protocol Type 3. Radio Link Protocol 3 Type 3 is used with a cdma20001 Traffic Channel to support CDMA data services. For the 4 remainder of this chapter, Radio Link Protocol Type 3 shall be called RLP. 5 RLP provides an octet stream transpor

、t service over forward and reverse traffic channels. 6 RLP is unaware of higher layer framing; it operates on a featureless octet stream, delivering 7 the octets in the order received. 8 RLP has procedures to substantially reduce the error rate exhibited by CDMA traffic 9 channels. There is no direc

、t relationship between higher layer packets and the underlying 10 traffic channel frames; a large packet may span multiple traffic channel frames, or a single 11 traffic channel frame may contain all or part of several small higher layer packets. 12 Section 2 is a general description of RLP that def

、ines its use by any service option for which 13 it is suited. Section 3 defines the RLP procedures for encrypted or non-encrypted 14 applications. Section 4 defines the RLP frame formats. 15 Some features require capabilities first available in cdma2000 Release A. Systems 16 supporting only cdma2000

、 Release 0 do not support the following: 17 Radio Configurations greater than 5. 18 Multiplex options 0x704 and 0xf20. 19 Variable Length Frame Mode (VLF). 20 Some features are included for support of capabilities first available in cdma2000 Release 21 C. Systems supporting cdma2000 Release 0 or cdm

、a2000 Release A or cdma2000 Release B 22 but not cdma2000 Release C do not support the following: 23 Multiplex option 0xf00. 24 1.2 Terms and Numeric Variables 25 Base Station (BS). A fixed station used for communicating with mobile stations. 26 Depending upon the context the term Base Station may r

、efer to a cell, a sector within a cell, 27 or other part of the wireless system. 28 Blank RLP Frame. An RLP frame received from or supplied to the multiplex sublayer that 29 contains no bits. 30 BS. See base station. 31 1 “cdma2000 is the trademark for the technical nomenclature for certain specific

、ations and standards of the Organizational Partners (OPs) of 3GPP2. Geographically (and as of the date of publication), cdma2000 is a registered trademark of the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA-USA) in the United States.” C.S0017-010-A v3.0 1-2 BS/MSC. 43、orward Packet Data Channel (F-PDCH). A portion of a Forward Traffic Channel that 11 provides higher data rate services. 12 Forward Supplemental Channel. A portion of a Forward Traffic Channel which operates 13 in conjunction with a Forward Fundamental Channel or Forward Dedicated Control 14 Channel

、in that Forward Traffic Channel to provide higher data rate services. 15 Forward Traffic Channel. One or more Forward CDMA channels used to transport user 16 and signaling traffic from the base station to the mobile station. See Forward Fundamental 17 Channel, Forward Dedicated Control Channel, Forw

、ard Supplemental Channel, and 18 Forward Packet Data Channel. 19 F-PDCH. See Forward Packet Data Channel. 20 F-PDCH Data Block. A data block carried on a Forward Packet Data Channel. 21 F-PDCH RLP Frame. An RLP frame carried in an F-PDCH data block. 22 Fundamental Channel. A portion of a Traffic Cha

、nnel which includes a Forward 23 Fundamental Channel, a Reverse Fundamental Channel, or both. 24 Fundicated Data Block. A data block carried on a Fundamental Channel or a Dedicated 25 Control Channel. 26 Fundicated RLP Frame. An RLP frame carried in a fundicated data block. 27 L_SEQ. The 12-bit sequ

、ence number of the received frame. 28 L_V(N). The 12-bit sequence number of the next data frame needed for sequential delivery. 29 L_V(N)peer. An estimate of the peer RLPs L_V(N). 30 L_V(R). The 12-bit sequence number of the next expected new data frame. 31 L_V(S). The 12-bit sequence number of the

、next data frame to be supplied to the multiplex 32 sublayer. 33 Mobile Station (MS). A station in the Public Cellular Radio Telecommunications Service 34 intended to be used while in motion or during halts at unspecified points. Mobile stations 35 include portable units (e.g., hand-held personal uni

、ts) and units installed in vehicles. 36 MS. See Mobile Station. 37 C.S0017-010-A v3.0 1-3 MSC. Mobile Switching Center. 1 NAK_COUNTi. The number of NAKs to send in the ith NAK round. 2 NAK List. A list maintained by RLP to track missing data frames and segments of data 3 frames. It is also used to map an 8-bit sequence number (SEQ) contained in a 4 retransmitted data frame to the 12-bit sequence number (L_SEQ) of the missing data frame. 5 NAK round. An interval that begins when RLP supplies the last of one or more NAK control 6 frames for a missing data frame described b
