APPROVED FOR PUBLIC RELEASE: DISTRIBUTION ISUNLIMITEDProvided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproduction or networking permitted without license from IHS-,-,-MIL-HDBK-1011/lABSTRACTThis handbook provides a general overview of information that directly relatesto construction within
、 tropical regions. The handbook focuses on constructioncomponents which are directly affected by the aggressive climatological andenvironmental elements found in these regions. Consequently, many traditionalparts of the construction trade are not reviewed herein, unless they areadversely affected by
、 the tropical elements. The handbook defines tropical areas and briefly discusses the adverseenvironmental and climatological elements unique to them. It discussesvarious construction materials and systems commonly in use, recommendationsregarding their selection and use, and highlights problems that
、 have resultedin failures with suggestions and recommendations regarding their eliminationor mitigation.iiProvided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproduction or networking permitted without license from IHS-,-,-MIL-HDBK-1011/1FOREWORDThis handbook is developed from an evaluation of facilities in the tropic
、alenvironment, and is based upon surveys of the availability of constructionmethods and from selection of the best design practices of the NavalFacilities Engineering Command (NAVFACENGCOM), other government agencies andthe private sector. It offers guidance for evaluating construction within thetro
