16、ROM ULA4 Insulation SystemsA4.1 Insulation systems shall comprise materials that have been shown by service life experience or testto have suitable thermal endurance when operating at the temperature limit declared. Compliance is to bedemonstrated by one of the following methods:a) Insulation system

17、s without suitable field experience may be used provided the insulationsystem in question (candidate system) complies with IEC 61858 Part 2: “Electrical insulationsystems Thermal evaluation of modifications to an established electrical insulation system(EIS) Part 2: Form-wound EIS” Clause 9, when te

18、sted against a system previously found tobe acceptable for service at the rated temperature class; orb) A modified or a new insulation system complying with the requirements of IEC 60034-18-31,Part 18-31: “Functional evaluation of insulation systems Test procedures for form-woundwindings Thermal eva

19、luation and classification of insulation systems used in rotatingmachines”;c) For form wound machines rated 15,000 V or less, using IEEE 1776: “RecommendedPractice for Thermal Evaluation of Unsealed or Sealed Insulation Systems for AC ElectricMachinery Employing Form-Wound Pre-Insulated Stator Coils

20、 for Machines Rated 15000 V orBelow” is considered to meet the intent of this requirement; ord) The manufacturers declaration with supporting documents such as test reports toestablished standards and documentation of machines using the materials with service lifeexperience reports.A.5 Electrical In

21、sulationA5.1 Materials used to support terminals or live parts other than magnet wire shall be constructed ofmaterials that have been shown by experience or test to have suitable thermal and electrical propertiessuitable for the temperatures measured during intended use. Compliance is to be demonstr

22、ated by one ofthe following methods:a) Materials that have been investigated and found acceptable in accordance with theapplicable requirements covering mechanical/electrical property considerations of the Standardfor Polymeric Materials - Use in Electrical Equipment Evaluations, UL 746C and Table A

23、5.b) Phenolic, ceramic, porcelain and cycloaliphatic epoxies are able to be used withoutadditional evaluation.c) Materials used to support live parts are considered acceptable when exhibiting propertiesshown in Table A5 and used within established thermal ratings for the temperatures measuredduring

These new requirements make a distinction between form wound and random

49、 woundmachines. In general, form wound machines are field installed and used in industrial applications usinghigher voltages. Random wound machines are typically used in the residential, commercial and industrialapplications using voltages of 1000V or less. Since the voltage range overlaps, the application ofrequirements was based on the construction of the insulation system, rather than just the machine voltagerating.Presently, UL 1004-1 has requirements for rotating electrical machines rated up to 7200 volts.
