4、d electric coffee makers and brewing-type appliancesintended to receive and respond to communication signals or data relating to power billing rate or demandresponse or communication signals from a remote user interface, such as a smart phone or computer.The smart enabled control response may includ

5、e delayed start, remote stop of a function, remote start, orbrew mode.SC1.2 Appliances covered by SC1.1 are commonly identified as smart appliances or smart enabledand are intended to interact with the Smart Grid, as described by the US Energy Independence andSecurity Act of 2007, or other communica

6、tion networks not identified as Smart Grid.SC1.3 These requirements do not address the integrity of any output signal or data to the network devicesor interoperability with other devices.SC1.4 These requirements supplement those specified in this Standard.SC1.5 These requirements contemplate smart e

7、nabled technology as described by the U. S. EnergyIndependence and Security Act of 2007 that is integral with the appliance or incorporated as an accessory(wired to the appliance or wireless with a corresponding appliance receiver) on the appliance or in thesame occupancy as the appliance.SC1.6 Thes

8、e requirements encompass accessory devices to which multiple appliances may communicateand be smart enabled by providing direction for investigation of such devices in addition to therequirements of standards generally applicable to those devices.SC1.7 These requirements do not apply to communicatio

9、n network devices that control appliances viageneral purpose power on-off, building wiring devices, panelboard mounted devices or utility meters.SC1.8 These requirements apply to wired or wireless remote commands from the user by way of:UL COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL NOT AUTHORIZED FOR FURTHER REPRODUCTION

10、 ORDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM ULa) Controls only capable of communicating within line-of-sight of the appliance (e.g. infraredwireless);b) Short range controls only capable of communicating within proximity or same occupancy ofthe appliance but not necessarily within line-of-sight (e.g. sh

11、ort-wave radio frequency); orc) Long range telecommunication controls without proximity limits (e.g. WiFi, local areanetworks, wide area networks).CONSTRUCTIONSC2 GeneralSC2.1 ControlsSC2.1.1 Controls that respond to external communication signals or data shall comply with theconstruction and perfor

12、mance requirements of the Standard for Automatic Controls for Household andSimilar Use, Part 1: General Requirements, UL 60730-1, and tested as an operating control utilizing theparameters specified in Table SC1. If the control also incorporates protective functions, these controlfunctions shall be

13、evaluated to the requirements for protective controls.Exception No. 1: Not applicable to devices and circuits located in low voltage circuits where the maximumpower available does not exceed 15 W and the device or circuit does not control the load.Exception No. 2: Compliance with the Standard for So

14、lid-State Controls for Appliances, UL 244A, takinginto account criteria comparable to that specified in Table SC1 is considered to fulfill this requirement,except Endurance for automatic, self-resetting, operating Type 2, controls shall be conducted on 100,000cycles.Table SC1Operating Control Parame

18、Pollution Degree 1 is permitted at a creepage distance by encapsulation or hermetic sealing. For printed wiring boards, coatingsmay be used that satisfy the performance criteria specified in UL 840.SC2.1.4 With respect to SC2.1.1, a communication device that is not integral with the appliance contro

20、TRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM ULSC2.1.5 For the purposes of application of the Standard for Automatic Controls for Household and SimilarUse, Part 1: General Requirements, UL 60730-1, Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) emissions testingof H23 is not applicable to controls, which are integral wit

21、h the appliance or incorporated as an accessory(wired or wireless) on the appliance or in the same occupancy as the appliance.SC2.1.6 With respect to the Endurance Testing indicated in Table SC1, the control shall remainoperational and comply with the Electric Strength Test of the Standard for Autom

22、atic Controls forHousehold and Similar Use, Part 1: General Requirements, UL 60730-1 (Clause 13.2).SC2.1.7 When the control enclosure forms part of the overall appliance enclosure, the enclosure materialshall have a flammability rating in accordance with Frames and Enclosures, Section 7.SC2.2 Separa

23、tion of CircuitsSC2.2.1 The separation of communication circuits from power and control circuits shall be evaluated forrisk of electric shock in accordance with 14.SC2.2.2 With respect to SC2.2.1, separation of circuit requirements of the following standards areconsidered to fulfill this requirement

24、 the Standard for:a) Automatic Controls for Household and Similar Use, Part 1: General Requirements, UL60730-1; orb) Information Technology Equipment - Safety - Part 1: General Requirements, UL 60950-1.SC2.3 Communication and Display DevicesSC2.3.1 A communication or display device, such as a router

25、 or monitor, provided as an accessory foruse with the appliance, shall comply with the Standard for Information Technology Equipment - Safety -Part 1: General Requirements, UL 60950-1.SC2.3.2 The power supply cord of an external communication or display device shall comply with thisstandard or the S

26、tandard for Information Technology Equipment - Safety - Part 1: General Requirements,UL 60950-1, except Types NISP-2, NISPE-2, NISPT-2 are not allowed.SC2.3.3 With respect to SC2.3.2, the requirement is not applicable to external communication or displaydevices powered via connection to communicatio

27、n or data ports on the appliance which are located in lowvoltage circuits.SC2.3.4 If the external communication or display device is grounded via bonding with the applianceenclosure, the bonding requirements of this Standard shall be applied.SC2.3.5 Grounding connections for external communication o

28、r display devices shall be made beforepower connections and shall disconnect only after power connections are disconnected (make first, breaklast).SC2.3.6 Functional grounding shall not be relied upon for equipment grounding or bonding. Functionalgrounding is grounding of a point in an appliance, wh

29、ich is necessary for a purpose other than safety, suchas surge suppression or electromagnetic-compatibility filters.SC2.3.7 When power is supplied to an external communication or display device by an interconnectingsupply cord, it shall comply with 11.1.1 of this Standard and be supplied with a bush

30、ing(s) and strain reliefas described in Supply Connections - Cord-connected appliances, 11.2.STANDARD NUMBER: UL 1082 -3-UL COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL NOT AUTHORIZED FOR FURTHER REPRODUCTION ORDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM ULSC2.3.8 A connector employed for field wiring shall have appropriate volta

31、ge, temperature, and materialratings suitable for the intended use and comply with the Standard for Insulated Multi-Pole Splicing WireConnectors, UL 2459.SC2.4 Communication Conductors and CablesSC2.4.1 External communication conductors and cables shall comply with the Standard for InformationTechno

32、logy Equipment - Safety - Part 1: General Requirements, UL 60950-1.SC2.4.2 Communication conductors and cables within the appliance shall be evaluated as internal wiringin accordance with this appliance standard.SC2.5 Communication ConnectorsSC2.5.1 Communication connectors and data ports accessible

33、 to the user and service personnel shallcomply with the Standard for Information Technology Equipment - Safety - Part 1: General Requirements,UL 60950-1. Otherwise, communication connectors and data ports shall be evaluated in accordance withthis Standard.SC2.5.2 With the exception of communication-

34、on-power-line technology, an appliance plug, flatiron plug,jumbo appliance plug, motor attachment plug or other conventional power cord connectors, such asNEMA or IEC standardized configurations, shall not be used for communication circuit connections.SC2.6 Smart Enabled or Remote OperationSC2.6.1 A

35、ny functionality enabled in response to external communication or data signals shall beconsidered when determining the normal and abnormal conditions of the appliance.SC2.6.2 The appliance shall include a means for the user to override any smart enabled power reduction,delayed start, remote operatio

36、n commands, or modified operation. A flexible supply cord with anattachment plug can serve as the override means if the appliance:a) Is portable;b) Does not employ a motor rated more than 1/3 HP (250 W output);c) Does not have a switch or control with a marked OFF position;d) Is provided with instru

37、ctions for unplugging the appliance to override smart enabled orremote functions.SC2.6.3 A control on the appliance shall be manually adjusted to the setting for smart enabled operation,delayed start or remote operation before the appliance can be operated in this mode. Examples forinitiating this s

38、etting include, but are not limited to, pressing a button, pressing and holding a button,activating a switch or latch, set-up and connection to a WiFi network, etc. Once a smart or remoteoperation mode is enabled, it may remain in this state until mode of operation is manually disabled. SeeSA3.3.Exc

40、STRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM ULSC3 Functional SafetySC3.1 Controls actuated in response to external communication or data signals shall not introduce ahazardous operating condition or a state that may lead to a hazardous operating condition.SC3.1.1 With respect to SC3.1, the control shall not:

41、a) Render inoperative any protective control or protective control function within the appliance;b) Alter the response to or expected performance of user actuation of controls, such asinterlock on movement of doors, covers or lids or contact with external and functional surfacesof the appliance resu

42、lting in exposure of hazardous electrical parts, moving parts, normallyinaccessible hot parts, or radiation;c) Enable remote operation to allow starting or restarting of brewing or dispensing modefunctions, or functions involving hazardous exposed moving parts of the appliance, except asindicated in

43、 SC3.2 for remote activation;d) Automatically override the temperature setpoint beyond the value selected by the consumer;e) Alter the order of appliance control response (e.g. force a protective control to operate wherenormally another control would respond, reset any protective manual reset temper

44、ature controlor shutoff feature); orf) Supersede the response of any protective control.SC3.2 With respect to SC3.1.1(c), a remote activation is not permitted for operating modes normallyconsidered attended, such as the espresso jet steam functions, where user is required for the equipmentto achieve

45、 brewing or dispensing functions. Remote operation is acceptable for other operations, usuallyunattended, such as brewing and keep warm modes for a household drip-type coffee maker, kettle, etc.SC3.3 Compliance with SC3.1 shall be determined using methods appropriate for determining theperformance a

46、nd reliability of protective control functions in accordance with Sections 25 and 26.SC3.4 With respect to SC3.3, the performance and reliability evaluation is not required if it is obvious fromexamination of circuit diagram(s) that the control operates wholly independent of the appliance protective

47、control(s) and therefore is incapable of adversely affecting their operation.SC4 Resistance to Electro Magnetic Phenomena (Immunity)SC4.1 The appliance protective control functions shall remain operable when subjected to conducted orradiated emissions from integral communication circuitry of the sma

48、rt enabled control or any accessorythereof.SC4.2 Compliance with SC4.1 is determined using the communication circuit source(s) adjusted to itsmaximum factory setting(s) in addition to any intermediate settings that are determined to present a riskto the acceptable operation of the protective control

49、 function. The protective control function shall betested in accordance with the Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements - immunity testing,Clauses H.26.4 through H26.14 of the Standard for Automatic Controls for Household and Similar Use,Part 1: General Requirements, UL 60730-1, as appropriate.STANDARD NUMBER: UL 1082 -5-UL COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL NOT AUTHORIZED FOR FURTHER REPRODUCTION ORDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM ULSC4.3 With respect to SC4.2, if it is determined that the source within the appliance or its accessory(ies)produces emissions addressed by t
