3、tentialsDECISION:40.1 (REVISED) An appliance shall withstand for 1 minute without breakdown the application of a DCpotential or an AC 60-Hz essentially sinusoidal potential between live parts and dead metal parts, andbetween live parts of opposite polarity for a test on a capacitor used for radio-in

4、terference elimination orarc-suppression, with the appliance at the maximum operating temperature reached in normal use. Thetest potential shall be:a) One thousand volts1000 V AC or 1400 V DC for an appliance employing a motor rated 1/2hp or less. See 17.4.b) One thousand volts1000 V AC plus twice r

5、ated voltage or 1400 V DC plus 2.8 times ratedvoltage for an appliance employing a motor rated more than 1/2 hp. See 17.4.48.1 (REVISED) Each appliance shall withstand without electrical breakdown, as a routine production-linetest, the application of a DC potential or an AC potential at a frequency
