4、ceeding 1000 V anddesignated as follows:Type 1 - Permanently connected SPDs intended for installation between the secondary of theservice transformer and the line side of the service equipment overcurrent device, as well asthe load side, including watt-hour meter socket enclosures and Molded Case SP

5、Ds intended tobe installed without an external overcurrent protective device.Type 2 - Permanently connected SPDs intended for installation on the load side of the serviceequipment overcurrent device; including SPDs located at the branch panel and Molded CaseSPDs.Type 3 - Point of utilization SPDs, i

6、nstalled at a minimum conductor length of 10 meters (30feet) from the electrical service panel to the point of utilization, for example cord connected,direct plug-in, receptacle type and SPDs installed at the utilization equipment being protected.See marking in 80.3. Type 1 and 2 SPDs shall also be provided with In and MCOV ratings. Type 1 SPDs, Type 2SPDs and Permanently-Co

17、nnected Type 3 (other than receptacle type) SPDs intended to be installed atthe utilization equipment being protected, shall also be provided with a Short Circuit Current Rating(SCCR).Exception: SCCR is not required for Type 1 and Type 2 Component Assemblies for N-G applicationsonly.80.2A Type 1 and

18、 2 Component Assemblies intended only for N-G applications shall be marked “N-GApplications Only “. Alternatively, the wiring terminals may be marked N and G.RATIONALE FOR DECISION:If a complete SPD is evaluated as SPD Type 1 or Type 2, Current Testing is not required across the N-Gmode.If a compone

19、nt is submitted for evaluation as SPD Type 1 or Type 2 Component Assembly (CA), it isrequired to have a SCCR and be submitted to SCCR and Intermediate Current Testing.If an SPD with only N-G protection is submitted, since it would not have a SCCR it cannot be consideredaType1or2CA.To address this un
